Terrell Owens a
Cowboy! It has happened Terrell Owens has signed with the Dallas
Cowboys a 3 year contract that includes a $5 million signing bonus. To
me Dallas seemed like the last place TO was going to go to. Why?
Remember when Terrell was a 49er and the famous run he did after
scoring a touchdown to the middle of the field to slam the ball down
onto the Dallas Star! Cowboys players then swarmed on him in anger and
rightly so. I thought it was very funny.
Then there is legend Cowboys Coach Bill Parcells. The Tuna they call
him who has been quite successful the past couple of years with the
Cowboys. To me it seemed like Bill would not want Terrell at the team
he is coaching. I bet nearly every NFL fan will be watching keenly to
see how long it takes for Terrell to screw up. I think he will go maybe
nearly a year, can't see him lasting the 3 years though. But hey I wish
he signed with the Broncos.
Jeff Garcia a Eagle!
So as Terrell Owens leaves the Eagles his former mate Jeff Garcia
joined them to backup Donovan McNabb. Garcia and Owens were a great
combination at the 49ers several years ago and then the much publicized
Terrell Owens bagging of Jeff since. I firmly believe Jeff Garcia
should have stayed at the 49ers played for less money as his career has
nose dived badly since. He has had unsuccessful times at the Cleveland
Brown "Shitta me Pants" and then at the Detroit Lions.
Terrell's former mate Jeff Garcia! I met both Terrell Owens and
Jeff Garcia who were out and about at the Pro Bowl. Mike Morreale the
CFL Hamilton Tiger Cat player was with both of them and Mike introduced
me to both Terrell and Jeff at the great Beach Bar in Honolulu that
some of the players hang out at during Pro Bowl week. So they used to
be mates of some sort.

Free Agents Update:
Cleveland and Washington in the lead! Washington has gone hog wild in
getting Quantity, but will 'Coach' Dan Snyder's REAL Fantasy Football
be enough to get ancient Joe Gibbs that second REAL Super Bowl ring
(to go with the two strike shortened year ones)?! The Browns, in
acquiring three time Super Bowl
WR Joe Jurivicious and the A'int's only Pro Bowl Player, Centre LeCharles
Bentley, have shored up two vital needs.
Dallas release of trouble-making "Gimme-the-dam-Ball Keyshawn Johnson
and replacing him with unwanted by 31 other NFL WR Terrell (Yessuh
master Jones) Owens is like changing a tire when one needs an
overhaul. If 'Big Tuna' and Jonesee were paying any attention,
there's a pretty damn good WR named Damien Harrell tearing up the
Arena League right now they could have gotten for one fifth the
price!
From Moose "Paul Tagliabue – A Tribute!"
Paul Tagliabue has been a real blessing to the NFL for 16+ years and
is stepping down at age 63. Paul started out as a NFL Lawyer that had
to bail the NFL out in his predecessor, Corporate Facsist ‘Pete’
Rozelle’s stupid little war with the upstart USFL, circa 1986. The
NFL lost all the battles, but won the war and the USFL more or less
morphed into the Ar.FL (Jim Foster, Jr. in both Leagues). Mr.
Tagliabue has presided over the NFL growing in size from 28 teams to
now (including the 6 NFL ‘AAA’ Europe ones) 38. He signed a
deal to merge with the Arena Football League, which has 44, if you
include the Af2 ‘AAA’. but was undercut by two unscrupulous owners in
Pittsburgh and Houston.
Former Houston Oilers Owner K.S ‘Bud’ Adams moved his team to
Tennessee and it became the Titans recycling the old New York (now)
Jets original nickname. It hasn’t been all roses for the Commish as
he recently settled some particularly thorny player compensation /
union issues in New York where he went to Law School. Mr. Tagliabue
is from New Jersey, and while ‘Pete’ (not his real name) Rozelle will
go down as the worst Commissioner in
NFL
history, Tagliabue is the best! Some potential replacements include:
Rich McKay, son of ex-Buccaneers Coach John McKay, who also Coached
USC for many years and is currently Atlanta G.M.,
Roger Goodell, current League Chief Operating Officer and Jeff Pash,
current Executive Vice Pres.
Mr. Tagliabue also
did a good job with the NFL Europe Division, stabilizing the
situation and before he left he made sure the League got Re-upped
until 2011, when the current union-player contract expires. when
Tagliabue first became Commissioner, the League was full of Dynasties
and 13 teams hadn’t made the playoffs. Now only six haven’t made the
playoffs. Aside from the horrid past Super Bowl XL and the continued
Officiating problems, Mr. Tagliabue leaves the League in better shape
than his weird predecessor!" Moose

Eagles obviously release
Terrell Owens! Terrell Owens to the Bronco's?
The Bronco's could be
in the running for signing Terrell Owens. Wow! That would be
awesome! They have cleared some cap room recently by waiving three
great players defensive end Pro Bowler Trevor Pryce, running back Mike
Anderson and tight end Jeb Putzier
for hopefully Terrell Owens.
I would be confident to say that Owens will now behave himself at a new
team and the Bronco's could be a very nice fit for him.

From NFL Media. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NFL-9 3/11/06 FREE AGENCY
SIGNING PERIOD BEGINS; 470 PLAYERS BECOME FREE AGENTS
The National Football League today announced that 470 players are free
agents who now can negotiate with all 32 clubs. The free agents include
three players who this year were designated by their clubs as
"franchise" players, and one who was named a “transition” player.
Franchise and transition players are special categories for restricted
and unrestricted free agents. The deadline for making these
designations for 2006 was February 23.
2006 FRANCHISE & TRANSITION DESIGNATIONS
Franchise Players Transition Players
DE John Abraham, NY Jets G Steve Hutchinson, Seattle
T Jeff Backus, Detroit
CB Nate Clements, Buffalo
In 2005, 11 players were designated as franchise players and one as a
transition player.
There are two types of franchise players. Clubs retain exclusive
negotiating rights to an “exclusive” franchise player by committing to
a minimum offer of the average of the top five salaries at the player's
position as of the end of the restricted free agent signing period on
April 21, or a 20 percent increase over his 2005 salary, or the average
of the top five salaries at his position as of the end of last season
-- whichever of the three is greater. Other clubs cannot negotiate with
exclusive franchise players. No exclusive franchise players were named
this year.
The second type of franchise player is offered a minimum of the average
of the top five salaries at his position in the 2005 season, or a 20
percent salary increase, whichever is greater. This type of franchise
player may negotiate with other clubs. His original club may match the
offer and retain the player, or receive two first-round draft choices
as compensation if the original club elects not to match.
Each club is permitted one franchise designation in any year of the
Collective Bargaining Agreement. If a franchise player signs a
multiyear contract with his current club between February 23 and July
15, the club retains its franchise player designation for the following
league year. After July 15, any contract signed by a franchise player
can only be for one year.
Also, a club may designate a transition player in lieu of a franchise
player in any year when the franchise designation is available. A
transition player designation gives the club a first-refusal right to
match an offer sheet given to the player by another club. To designate
a transition player, the club must offer a minimum of the average of
the top 10 salaries of 2005 at the player's position, or a 20 percent
salary increase, whichever is greater.
In the event a player retires, suffers a career-ending injury or is
otherwise unavailable due to non-football circumstances, a club has the
right to designate another franchise or transition player.
A club may withdraw a franchise or transition designation at any time.
The player becomes an unrestricted free agent when that withdrawal
occurs, and the team can use one of the designations on another player
at the appropriate time.
Unrestricted veteran free agents are players who have completed four or
more accrued seasons of service and whose contracts have expired. They
are free to sign with any club through July 22 (or the first scheduled
day of the first NFL training camp, whichever is later). On July 23,
their exclusive rights will revert to their original club if that club
made a June 1 tender to these players. Teams will have until the
Tuesday after the 10th week of the season (November 14) to sign their
unrestricted veteran free agents to whom a tender was made on June 1.
If the player does not sign by
November 14, he must continue to sit out the remainder of the season.
If a June 1 tender is not made to an unrestricted free agent, he
continues to be free to sign with any club.
Restricted free agents are players who have completed three accrued
seasons of service and whose contracts have expired. They have received
qualifying offers from their old clubs and are free to negotiate with
any club until April 21, at which time their rights revert to their
original club. If a player accepts an offer from a new club, the old
club will have the right to match the offer and retain the player. If
the old club elects not to match the offer, it may receive draft-choice
compensation depending on the level of the qualifying offer made to the
player.
The signing period for unrestricted free agents began today (March 11)
and concludes on July 22 (or the first scheduled day of the first NFL
training camp, whichever is later). The signing period for restricted
free agents also began today but concludes on April 21.

From Moose "Curt Gowdy, Announcer
passed away two days ago at the age of 86. He was an outstanding
announcer who called some of the biggest games in NFL-AFL / NCAA and
US Olympic history. Gowdy, from the same town in the state of Wyoming
that Edmonton Canadian QBing great Tom Wilkinson, who split the QB
job with Warren Moon for four years, came from. Gowdy, who has a
state park in Wyoming named after him, along with former Bulls and
Lakers Ast. Coach Tex Winter, was very good NCAA basketball player in
the 1940's. His Wyoming Cowboys won the Men's NCAA crown in 1942 with
the point guard Gowdy winning M.V.P. honors. Since there was no Pro
Basketball (the NBA started in 1946), Gowdy switched over to
Announcing, first with the NCAA Football then the Yankees and Red Sox
in MLB.
Some of Gowdy, who retired in 1985
from NBC's biggest game on that network were: the fourth Super Bowl,
which flopped in 1967, with 30,000+ empty seats in the L.A. Coliseum,
the infamous 'Heidi Bowl', when NBA switched to that Walt Disney Co.
story about the Joanna Spari novel about the sweet little red-haired
freckled girl in the Alps, who lived with here grandfather, as the
Oakland Raiders were in a pitched battle to make their second
consecutive Super Bowl, leading the Jets of N.Y. by three points.
With only two minutes remaining in the game, the Raiders seemed
destined to win and make their second consecutive Super Bowl, tying
Vince Lombardi's Packers. But Joe Namath, who would make mincemeat
out of the Colts of the NFL in S.B. III, brought the Jets back to win
a last second game, 27-23. The circuit board in New York blew out
with 119,000+ angry calls from Football fans all over the U.S.
demanding that NBC switch back to the game! But NBC couldn't do it
fast enough. The next week Gowdy called the Jets / Colts Super Bowl
III, where Namath and the Jets beat the over-the-hill Baltimore
bunch, 16-7.
They still call this game, the most
important Super Bowl ever, an upset, which I don't agree with. Gowdy
went on to call Olympics, NCAA Football and Basketball Championships
and other big games until his retirement in 1985. He was elected into
the American Sports Broadcasting Hall-of-Fame in 1986. And later that
year into the MLB Hall-of-Fame, it's first Announcer.
Rickey Williams - Four strikes your
out? Rickey Williams, the Miami Dolphins overrated RB, who had
a few good games (and who is in India 'studying' the Hindu cult) has
tested positive for either steroids/drugs for the fourth time in his
speckled NFL career (can you say another first- round "bust"?) Will
the watered down NFL sidestep this like they did the poor Officiating
in Super Bore XL, or will they throw this bum out for good?
Doug Flutie has two options when the
New England Pats probably will cut him loose next month (Mar. 3rd
he's a free agent again); go to play for Bernie and Loine in Ottawa
in the CFL (w/ or without his brother Darren), or...go back to San
Diego as a reserve QB and serve as Phil Rivers backup? There's a
strong possibility Marty Schottenheimer will call for Doug, who still
owns a home there to come for a tryout. Second or third string as of
this point in his career will not matter to Flutieball, he says. He
really wants more year as a player and it doesn't look like Ottawa
will offer him more than $650,000 Canadian (as QB or drop-K'r?). The
Pats will probably bring in either Jim Miller, Damon Huard or even
Rohan Davey back as number #3 since they appear to be sold on current
number 2 Matt (White)Cassel (as ESPN's Chris Berman calls him)...
Drew Brees appears done in San Diego is he recovered fine from bad
wing surgery but won't be able to pass until May - the Chargers have
to release him since Phil Rivers (& Doug Flutie?!) are ready to go
healthy and the Bolts will have to pay him a whopping $10.2+/mil if
he stays on their roster past Apr. 30th... This plays perfectly into
the Jets hands...They are watering at the mouth to get their habds on
bad-wing Brees (he's only had one shoulder surgery) because @* Chad
Pennington has had three shoulder operations in four years and he
won't take a pay cut. no way will the Jets pay Pennington $11.1/mil
if they keep him past Apr. 30th. Brees is fine say the Docs in San
Diego, as long as he doesn't pass until May. No work 'til then, which
suits the Jersey Jets fine. Oh, Nineteen year vet Vinny Testeverde
has officially retired. He holds several records including 19
consecutive yrs., NFL QB with at least one TD. Just ahead of Johnny
Unitas (r.i.p), Fran Tarkenton and 47-year old former Seahawk great
Dave Krieg." Moose

Wow! What a great Book Romo has written.
It is without doubt one
of the top three books I have ever read and the #1 book I have read in
regards to motivation, training and nutrition. There is so many great
stories of Bill's rigorous training routines, his massive spending on
health foods etc, his concussions and most of all his desire to never
miss a game. Bill played for 16 NFL seasons and did not miss a game
when many others would have with some of the injuries that he carried.
I could go on and on about this book but I won't. All I'll say is that
it has already helped me a lot in my training as I prepare for the 06
Australian Rules Football season in Western Canada. It has helped me a
lot in regards to diet and health especially after the King Hit bashing
I copped on Dec 23rd here in Calgary by 5 gutless wonders. Refer to

There is some excellent advice in regards to vitamins, ginseng etc to
help with health especially if you are a athlete. I'm even going to try
his new $160US Neuropath product from pureromonutrition.com especially
if it can help my ever wondering/dreaming brain a bit especially after
the recent bashing and concussion I had.
Now many of you out there
will be thinking of the -ve's in regards to Romo's career and he talks
about his regrets in this book but seriously it is a great motivational

"Super Bore XL Report – Congrats to the Pittsburgh Stealers (no, I

Super Bowl XL was fine for about the first third, as
Seattle lead 3-0. But the Seahawks were robbed of two TDs by bad calls
on alleged ‘Offencive pass interference calls that were so bad I don’t
think and Af2 Ref would have called them. All week ESPN (especially
ex-Bronco LB Tom Jackson) have railed that the Commissioner's Office at
Park Ave. should issue some sort of apology, et al, to the Seahawks for
the blown calls in the game. Amen to that. I have no problem with any
NFL playoff or Super Bowl Championship game when the best team wins and
certainly Pittsburgh DID get rooked on bad call v. Indianapolis. Jaws Jaworski
still says the Colts are the best team in the League – bullogna! Bill
"Ego" Cowher can have his Super Bowl ring for this Clunker. How about
the idiot Bill Leavy, the guy who gave Vinny Testeverde, a player I
really Do like that TD a few years ago and now he gives

"NFL
Hall of Fame Update – The class of 2006 – Congrats to John Madden
(Finally!), Harry Carson (double finally!), Reggie White (R.I.P),
Rayfield Wright, and Warren Moon!" Moose
Profiles:
Harry Carson – 13-yr starter at Linebacker for the N.Y. Giants.
Giants’ alltime leading tackler. made Nine Pro Bowls, eight in a row
(1981-88). Best Linebacker in N.Y. Giants’ history. Dedicated the
Giants first Super Bowl win to the late Giants RB Doug Kotar [1974-81;
injured ‘80], who died of a brain tumour Dec. 1983. A class act all the
way and now a very successful Real
Estate
Broker back in South Carolina. Helped Bill Parcells, Phil Simms & Co.
win two Super Bowls.
Big John (‘Jack’, or “Red”) Madden, Announcer for 20-yrs., Coach
– Oakland Raiders (11 yrs), player Philadelphia Eagles, 1959. One of
the best ever OLm in the NCAA’s, Madden was the top pick of the
Philadelphia Eagles, in the second round in 1959. He made the starting
lineup as a rookie on the powerful Eagles but ripped every ligament in
his right knee two plays into the season. Missed the rest of the 1960
season when the Eagles won the NFL title. It only made him more
determined when he got into Coaching. Started in Coaching at Allen
Hancock Junior College then moved to Sid Gillman’s L.A. Chargers staff.
When the club moved to San Diego, he became the youngest Assistant in
the League w/ the Raiders. He replaced John Rauch and got the Raiders
into Super Bowl II in his first year. They lost to Vince Lombardi’s
Packers. Over the next ten seasons the Raiders won more games than any
other Pro Football team except the Saskatchewan Roughriders. (CFL)
Madden won 112 games (100+ faster than any Coach in Pro Football
history) and culminated with the 1977 Super Bowl win over ex-Winnipeg
Coach Peter Harry “Bud” Grant. Madden had to step down as Raider’s
Coach following the 1978 season due to a stomach ailment. He has not
flown in a plane since then. He has written eight Football books, with
much humour and antedotes from his playing and Coaching days. One of a
kind. A living Legend…
Rayfield Wright,
13-yr starter at OT for the Dallas Cowboys. Team made eleven playoff
appearances and went to five Super Bowls in eight years, winning two of
them. Made the Pro Bowl eight times, six times as a starter. Never
missed a game in his tenure with the Cowboys. A great technical player.
Reggie White, 17-yr Pro Football DE-DT. Played for the Memphis
Showboats (USFL), Philadelphia-Green Bay-Carolina (first ex-Panther
player to make NFL Hall-of-Fame). An all-time Pro Football high 230.5
QB ‘sacks’; 198 NFL + 32.5 more in two USFL (1984-85) seasons. Thirteen
Pro Bowl appearances, Eleven consecutive Pro Bowl starts. One Super
Bowl win with Green Bay in ’97. An ordained minister, he openly spoke
out v. homosexuality and other sins. Died tragically in his sleep of a
heart ailment at age only 43 one-and-a-half years ago. R.I.P, Reggie,
“The Minister of Defence” and the best pass rusher ever!
Warren Moon, QB,

Tues, Feb 7 06 " The Pittsburg Steelers win Super Bowl XL 21 to 10 over the
Seattle Seahawks! It was a great day here in Calgary but not a great
game! Post game quotes direct from NFL Media!" Myk Aussie

Unfortunately did not make this years Super Bowl. I had a great day in Calgary watching the Super Bowl this year with many great CFL Stampeder fans. For lots of great CFL MYKwebTV which includes past
and future NFLers
It was a great day but not a great game
as the Steelers win. There has been a lot of talk on the sports radio
shows since the Big game about the very controversial refereeing
decisions including the Big Ben touchdown and the offensive
interference call on Seahawks Darryl Jackson. Either way the Steelers
won because they made the most of the opportunities. Seahawks
definitely had their chances but obvious missed field goals and some
horrid drops by Tight End Jeremy Stevens were some of the reasons that
cost them winning the game. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgrem now back in
Seattle complained today Big-time about the refereeing. Hmmm a NFL fine
will probably be coming to Mike. Maybe he was right but maybe not!
That's the way it goes.

Even though I am not in
Detroit this week I have enjoyed listening to many of the great sports
radio shows including The Jim Rome Show on Calgary's The Fan 960, Sportstalk with Mark Stephen Calgary QR77
and of course SportsRage Team 990 Montreal and Internet with Gabriel
Morency.
Memories! Jim Rome kept saying all week how amazing the massive radio
row is in the Media Centre. I agree and in some ways I didn't miss not
being there that much seeing the Bronco's weren't in the Big game as I
kept thinking of the great times I have had in radio row the past 3
years during the whole of the Super Bowl week. A couple of my Super
Bowl MYKwebTV shows, show the massive Radio Rows.
From the reports below
you will see that I have tipped the Steelers to win Big over the
Seahawks even though I hope the Seahawks win! Refer to Moose, Scott
Baxter's and my argument/discussion below Jan 27 report. After the
Championship games I made my selection and decided not to be influenced
by the media talk/reports over the 2 weeks leading up to the Big game.
However a real interesting interview I heard was on QR77 with Mark
Stephen with the great CFL coach/manager Jim Barker. Jim had some very
good insight into the Steelers "erratic or somewhat concerning
preparation" up until Tuesday of this week. That made me think slightly
more towards the Seahawks but I am sticking with what I said, the
Steelers will win and I think it will be a Big win! Go Seahawks though
as I am a bit like what Mark Stephen says, "We have been forced to
watch many Seahawks games over the past 20-30 years here on the West
Coast of Canada, lots of them when the Seahawks were horrible".
Yeh I agree I've watched many Seahawks games on Fox over the past 8
years, or should I say I have watched "some of their games when I had
no CBS AFC choice" Let's hope it is a great game, Sunday 6pm Eastern
US/CDN time.

Day reports below!" Myk Aussie
STOCKTON &
JOHNSTON TEAM UP ON SUPER BOWL XL WORLD FEED. The FOX-TV broadcast team
of DICK STOCKTON and DARYL JOHNSTON will serve as announcers for the
world feed of Super Bowl XL on Sunday, February 5, the NFL announced
today.
Stockton will be providing commentary and analysis to international
audiences for the fifth
consecutive year, while Johnston will be making his fourth appearance
on the world feed.
The broadcast will provide game and color commentary with in-depth
information on the players,
coaches and history of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks
catered to an international
audience.
"It is a pleasure to have Dick and Daryl again lend their talents to
the world feed broadcast," said
CHARLES WHITE, NFL vice president of international media. "In the past,
they have delighted our
international viewers with exciting commentary and incisive analysis of
the game."
With more than 30 years of broadcasting experience, Stockton has seen
the impact of Super Bowl
grow. "Realizing the audience ranges from Americans traveling or living
abroad to hundreds of countries fascinated by this great event makes
broadcasting the Super Bowl each year a unique and special experience,”
says Stockton.
Johnston, a former running back for the Dallas Cowboys, is no stranger
to the Super Bowl. He won
three Super Bowl rings as the starting fullback for Dallas in 1993,
1994 and 1996. The Super Bowl continues to grow in popularity around
the world. This year’s game will be broadcast to 234 countries
and territories in a record 32 languages. ABC will televise the game in
the United States.
