"NBA Report! Clippers run their record to all-time high 4-0 with win over Pacers last night!" Moose Salzer

The Los Angeles Clippers must be thinking, 'Who is Elton J. Brand'?, or 'Who is Shaun Livingston'? Not really but that is the way they are playing with the current lineup of Centre Chris Kaman, Fs Tim Thomas, Corey Maggette, Gs Cutino Mobley and ageless Sam (I Am) Cassell. Four straight wins and three on the road (!). This is also the third year in a row that they are leading the NBA in Defense (so far). It is not out of the realm of possibility that F Brand and G Livingston may be back before this season is over." Moose

From Fri Nov 2. The NBA season has started!
Toronto Raptors star Chris Bosh!
The NBA season started this week. The Toronto Raptors started with a win against the Philadelphia 76ers 106 to 97. Yesterday it was great to listen to Raptors star Chris Bosh on The Jim Rome show. Chris a very level headed guy seems very happy to be the franchise player in Toronto. This is the 2nd time that I have heard Chris on The Jim Rome show and you can tell by listening to Jim that he likes the guy a lot for being so down to earth. I'm hoping the Raptors, Canada's team have a great year.

I met Teen Wolf! MYKwebTV and centre68.com combine for a great day at McMahon Stadium for the CFL Stamps vs Al's game!

Teen Wolf was great at the Stampeders vs Alouettes CFL game on Halloween Saturday night. I don't think it was Michael J Fox although I know Michael is Canadian. Some funny TotalCFLwebTV is coming this weekend as Teen Wolf teaches me how to do a Dunk. It was not easy running up the steps on a monument at the Stadium to do a dunk. Thurs, Oct 11 07 "
NBA Preview 2007-08! Picks through the 62nd Championship! Los Angeles Clippers here in Portland today v. the Trail Blazers and I am here for MYKwebTV/Salzer Sports!" Moose Salzer

Eastern Conference:
Atlantic Division: (1) Boston, (2) Toronto, (3) N. Jersey, (4) N. York, (5) Philadelphia
Southeast Division: (1) Orlando, (2) Atlanta, (3) Carolina, (4) Washington, (5) Miami
Central Division: (1) Chicago, (2) Cleveland, (3) Detroit, (4) Milwaukee, (5) Indiana

Outlook: Milwaukee got a big Chinese F to help Andrew Bogut and Michael Redd but it won't be enough. Detroit will have one more run before it's time to re-tool. Call Tim Taylor and Al! Chicago's Baby Bulls are almost fully grown and will make a real run this year. Washington still has to contend with the injuries to Caron Butler and the great Gilbert Arenas. Carolina still has Michael Jordan in the front office so you can forget them. The Pacers made the wrong move by letting my old rival Rick Carlisle go. Isiah Thomas will screw the Knickerbockers up in N.Y. Look for Centre Dwight Howard to lead Orlando to their second all-time NBA Finals.

Western Conference:
Northwest Division: (1) Minnesota, (2) Denver, (3) Utah, (4) Seattle, (5) Portland
Southwest Division: (1) San Antonio, (2) Dallas, (3) Houston, (4) Memphis, (5)N.O.
Pacific Division: (1) Phoenix, (2) LA Clippers, (3)Golden St, (4)LA Lakers, (5) Sac.

Outlook: The (Potential) Best in the West, the Los Angeles Clippers have to deal with two major injuries, F/great Elton Brand, a perennial all-star (eight times) and MVP Candidate and G Shaun Livingston, who may not be ready this year. G/F Corey Maggette, who doesn't average Elton Brand's 21-10, will start now and will lead the attack. He's been bulking up the last few years and nobody in the league gets to the foul line more. Coach Mike Dunleavy, Sr. will have his hands full, starting tonight against upstart Portland, who has top pick Greg Oden out for the year. Remember him from The Ohio St? The Hollywood fLakers are going downhill and almost lost Kobe again in the off-season.

Denver only has one ball between Al Iverson and egotistical F Carmelo Anthony, so that'll stop them. Seattle AND/OR Portland will be moving to OK City in a year or two so they won't be in the mix. Look for surprising Minnesota lead by Jerry Sichting and Kev McHale, two old Celtic Champs to be the new studs on the block.

Finals Pick: Orlando over the Los Angeles Clippers/Minnesota in six in the 62nd NBA Championship in June 2008. Best to all this season and Greetings from Portland, Oregon. Clippers v. Blazers to open the year and I am here!" Moose Salzer

Tues, Aug 21 07 "Mark Madsen of the Timberwolves goes down!" Moose Salzer

Another off-season NBA injury to report; former Lakers top pick, Mark Madsen of the Minnesota Timberwolves, F, was injured in boating accident and just underwent shoulder surgery. This is the second serious injury to NBA players in the off-season. Two weeks ago Clipper MVP candidate Elton J. Brand was injured in private workouts with Pro trainer and tore his achilles heal and will miss the first four months of the season. Couple that with Shaun Livingstons injury and the once dominant Clippers of the last couple years could be in trouble. There is no timetable on Madsen's return yet. Best wishes to both injured players.

In WNBA Playoff News, in the Eastern Conference, Detroit is playing New York and Indiana is playing Connecticut. In the Western Conference to start the playoffs, it's Phoenix v. Seattle and San Antonio v. Sacramento." Moose Salzer

Fri, Aug 10 07 "NBA Report! Elton J. Brand ruptures Achilles tendon, surgery a success. The Kevin Garnett trade to Boston and more!" Moose Salzer

Los Angeles Clippers Power Forward / Movie Producer Elton J. Brand slipped  on the practice floor and ruptured an Achilles heal in summer workouts and will be out an estimated five-six months. He had his Achilles heal operated on in Delaware last Saturday and will wear a cast for six weeks followed by a checkup then six weeks in a soft inflatable cast before undergoing rehab. This could damage the Clippers Championship run next year but is not entirely a crushing blow as the Clippers have easily been the best team in L.A. the past three years and the rival Lakers were not able to land Minnesota F/A Forward Kevin Garnett.

To send Elton Brand a get well card, Address it to:
Elton J. Brand, c/o
Los Angeles Clippers @ Staples Centre

Los Angeles, California 90015

In other NBA /CBA News: Kevin Garnett signs with Boston. Minnesota All-Star F Kev Garnett, the former league MVP signed with NOT the Clippers rival Los Angeles Lakers but the Eastern Conference Boston Celtics, giving the Celtics three solid players to score with in the upcoming 2007-08 season. Garnett didn't want to have the share the ball with Kobe Bryant and will be the number one option in the Celtics Offence as he should be. While I was in Sioux Fallas South Dakota this past weekend for the Sioux Falls/Lexington Indoor Football playoff game I met Deryl [not the spelling; cool ain't it?] Cunningham, a former five-year CBA player from the Sioux Falls SkyForce, Omaha and one other CBA squad I can't remember. Deryl was with his Sioux Falls girlfriend and is now an Assistant Coach in Men's basketball with the South Dakota St Jackrabbits (no, no; stop laughing, that's what they are called!).

I am going to have to stay in touch with Deryl, a sharp guy with an eye for sports and the Jackrabbits. The SkyForce  do very well at the Sioux Falls Arena and so does the arena football and hockey as well. A great trip and it's always good to get to meet new folkes, former athletes." Moose Salzer

Sun, July 8 07 "NBA. Clipper's Forward Elton Brand for an Oscar? NBA Draft Analysis: Clippers, Timberwolves, Bulls and Seattle the big winners!" Moose Salzer

Elton Brand's long awaited Vietnam movie he produced, 'Rescue Dawn' [My rating: ***.5 stars] is out in theatres and I hgihly recommend it. Along with Michael Moore's new film, 'Sicko', easily the best two of the summer so far. Brand, who lives in Beverly Hills, down the street from the parents of the brat that just got out of jail, Paris Hilton, Brand has been producing and writing for some time now on amateur projects. But his Gibraltar Entertainment  approached Steve Marlton, now a partner, who distributes last year. The film stars Christian Bale, Steve Zaun and Jeremy Davies. No Fag-back Mountain here. This is a man's movie. A real Man's movie. Way to go Elton. Oscar on the way? I sure hope so!

NBA Draft Analysis: Clippers, Timberwolves, Bulls and Seattle the big winners!
1) Portland, Greg Oden, (2) Seattle Kevin Durrant, (3) Atlanta Al Horford, (5) Boston Jeff Green, (6) Milwaukee, (7) Minnesota, Corey Brewer, (8) Chicago Joakim Noah, (9) Carolina Brandan Wright, (10) Sacramento, Spencer Hawes, (11) Atlanta, Acie Law, (12) Philadelphia,  Thad Young, (13) New Orlean, Julian Wright, (14) Los Angeles Clippers [1st round]; Al Thornton, [2nd round] G Daegan Cook, from Boston for G/F Wally Szczerbiak to Seattle, Ray Allen to Boston, (15) Detroit, Rodney Stuckey, (16) Washington, Nick Young, (17) New Jersey, Sean Williams, (18) Golden St.,  Marco Belinelli, Italy, (19) L.A. Lakers, Javaris Crittenton,

(20) Miami, Jason Smith, (21) Philadelphia, Jared Dudley, (22) New York, Wilson Chandler, (23) Phoenix, Rudy Fernandez, (24) Utah, Morris Almond, (25) Houston, Brooks Aaron, (26) Detroit, Aaron Affalol, (27) Defending Champion San Antonio, Tiago Splittler, F, Spain, (28) Phoenix Alando Tucker, (29) Philadelphia, Petteri Koponen, G, Finland, (30) Seattle, Carl Landry.

On the flap over ex-NBA great Tim Hardaway's remarks, I say to soft-soapers, get over it. The sorry Commissioner of the NBA, Sterngang's leftist stance to not let Tim come to the Championship Gala was dumb. Stern is on barrowed time as NBA Commissioner anyway. How about Coby Dietrick or somebody  good. Or how about Hardaway as Commissioner?! I'd love that! You go Tim!" Moose Salzer

Updated, Tues, June 19 07 "Tony Parker wins the MVP as Spurs win NBA Title, 4 games to 0 over Cleveland Cavaliers! NBA Report!" Moose Salzer

San Antonio: The Spurs are the newest "semi" Dynasty with now four NBA Titles in the last nine years, an NBA most for the early 21st Century. Lead by G Tony Parker and Tim Duncan once again, the Gregg Popovich machine rolls on. Popovich, was once the Air Force Falcons Basketball H.Coach while Bill Parcells was H. Football Coach of Air Force, won his fourth NBA Championship and extended his record to 4-0.

Golden St's Warriors could be in real trouble as Owner Chris Cohon owes $160/mil. in back taxes according to the IRS. There is a rumour in the air that they could be under new ownership and may be moving out of the Oakland area soon. There is also persistent rumours that Seattle and the Portland Trailblazers could also be switching cities soon. Scuttlebut has Paul Allen's Portland going to Seattle, Super Sonics to Oakland and Golden St's Warriors going to Oklahoma City, for the last two years, the home of the displaced New Orlean Hornets. Stay tuned.

In other News. Former NBA 11-year F/Centre Paul "Big Mo" Mokeski who played for Detroit, Milwaukee, Golden St, Cleveland and San Antonio has been signed by the former Carolina, now Charlotte Bobcats as lead Assistant Coach. At 6'11.5" he'll tower over most all of their players. Coby Dietrick a 13 year Pro seasons from Memphis in the ABA to San Antonio and Chicago into the early '80's until leading the CBA's Miami Thrillers to the 1985 and '86 Pro 'AAA' titles has been nominated to the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame. Dietrick, who at least spells his first name correctly ('Kobe', indeed...) played 8 of his 13 Pro seasons with the Spurs who started out as the Dallas Chaparrals of the old ABA." Moose Salzer

Thurs, June 14 07 "
The San Antonio Spurs defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 75 to 72 in game 3! The Spurs are now up 3-0! Around the League, Selected Teams with 'Moves' from Moose!" Myk Aussie

"Around the League, Selected Teams with 'Moves'!" Moose Salzer
Cleveland: The Cavaliers are in their franchise record first NBA Championship. The team entered the NBA in 1970 when the League expanded from 18 to 21 teams, along with the Los Angeles Clippers (then the Buffalo Braves) and the Seattle (soon to be Oklahoma City?) Sonics. Good luck to LeBron and Co., as the fourth year, 22-year-old F looks like the next Elton J. Brand up front. It's hard to imagine but LeBron WOULD be in his fourth year of College NCAA 'ball if he hadn't gone to the NBA four years ago!

Minnesota: Jerry Sichting Back with McHale! Jerry Sichting, the ex-Boston Celtic / Indiana Pacer / Golden St. Warrior / Portland Blazer and Carolina Hornets G is back with the Timberwolves at the behest of Kevin McHale, who was named the best General Manager in Pro Sports by the Wall Street Journal's sports Dept. several weeks ago (The Best? Yea, right!) Anyway, after other ex-Celtic and VHSL/U.VA star Indy Coach Rick Carlisle got kicked upstairs to the H.Scouting spot from the H.Coach spot by Pacer Boss Larry Legend last month, S's contract expired. Two years ago when McHale (without the Navy!) fired Fred 'Flip' Saunders, McHale and Sichting took over the Coaching for the rest of the year. Then Jerry Lee left for Indy. If I were T'Wolves Coach Randy Wittman, I woul dbe looking over my shoulder at the bald little guy with the glasses, who may be in line to take his spot. McHale, Sichting, Carlisle, Bird and several others were together on K.C. Jones Celtics team back in the mid '80's that went to four straight NBA  Championship Series in-a-row, a 1980's record. Don't think that sparks camaraderie?! Think again!

San Antonio: The Spurs could very well become the first dynasty of the NBA's 21st Century if they beat LeBron and the Cavaliers. It would be four-for-four in the last nine seasons. I still think F Tim Duncan is the best player in the NBA  over the last ten years (Note: he has been in the NBA for the last ten years. Elton Brand is just as good but has 'only' been in the NBA for the last nine years. Catch Twenty-Two!)

Toronto: After the NBA Championship concludes and we get into the Free Agency period, expect the Raptors to re-acquire F Matt (Red) Bonner back  from San Antonio. He is one of a few Canadian players in the league and was very popular with the R's the last couple of years. He DID do the right thing by going to the Spurs after playing with the R's on some of those bad  teams but he still drew plenty of applause when he and the Spurs came to TO. (Here to fore known as the Centre of the Univers!) He used to ride the Subway and trains around town and sign autographs, et, al for the fans and ride to the games with them.

Washington: Expect the Wiz' to do everything in their power to resign G/F Gil Arenas to a new contract as a UF/A. I know how good their other guys Butler / Jamieson CAN be, but Gilbert [Agent '0'] is still their best weapon. Put it to you this way; if they don't resign him, they won't make the playoffs next year." Moose Salzer

Tues June 12 07 "NBA 61ST Championship report! I am still going with Cleveland and LeBron though!
Michele's WNBA 2007 Preview and Championship Pick!" Moose Salzer

Eastern Conference Champions Cleveland Cavaliers v. Western Conference Champions the San Antonio Spurs for the League Championship. What to Look for: The Spurs have quickly taken a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals with their strong inside game featuring the best player in the NBA in the last ten years, F/Centre Tim Duncan (originally from the US Virgins Isles). The Spurs went up in the long Series, 2-0 last night with a 102-93 win. It's not over yet by a long stretch. Remember LeBron James and the Cavs were down 0-2 to Detroit before they won the last four of that Series last week. Cleveland Coach Mike Brown's biggest challenge in this series will be neutralizing Duncan inside.

The Cavs may be forced to go to Scott Pollard. X Factor: Cleveland reserve G Eric Snow has already been to the Finals three times before with the Seattle Super Sonics, New Jersey Nets and Philadelphia 76ers. He is a very good Defencive Player and provides some 'D' v. Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and former Clipper Slam Dunk Allstar Contest winner Brent Barry, who will get the most minutes in the Spurs backcourt.

Advantages: Defence: Spurs, Offence: Cavaliers, Intangibles: Cleveland, Coaching: Spurs. My Pick: Cleveland in seven plus one or two Overtimes." Moose Salzer

"WNBA 2007 Preview and Championship Pick!"
Predicted Order of Finish:
(1) Connecticut, (2) Seattle, (3) Phoenix, (4) Chicago, (5) San Antonio, (6) Minnesota, (7) Los Angeles, (8) Indiana, (9) New York, (10) Detroit, (11) Sacramento, (12) Washington.
12th Championship Prediction: Seattle over Connecticut in five." Michele Dewalt

Updated Tues, May 22 07 "
NBA report! Cleveland, Detroit, Utah and San Antonio left to fight for Title! Venting my Sports Rage includes talking NBA  with Gabriel Morency on Sports Rage now on Sirius Satellite radio!" Myk Aussie

"NBA Update! Cleveland, Detroit, Utah and San Antonio left to fight for Title Eastern Conference!" Moose Salzer
The Cleveland Cavaliers have gone as far as they ever did with the Mark Price, Craig Ehlo, Brad Daugherty, Lenny Wilkens Cavs ever did. LeBron James is also only 22! He would be a College Senior this year if he had gone to College. I expect the Pistons of Detroit to run out of Bullets soon. It'll be the Cavs first NBA Championship appearance if they make it.

Western Conference:
The Boo of the year goes to Phoenix Coach Mike D'Antoni who only went seven men deep most of the playoffs which is why the best team in the NBA (Suns) lost in the West Semi-Finals. I expect the misnamed Utah Jazz to finally win the NBA Title, over San Antonio. Surprisingly both these teams sport six Caucasian players on the roster and we may see 10 on the floor at a time, for the first time since 1986 when Boston and Utah teed it up! The Spurs are very good with: The best player of the last ten years (!), Forward Tim Duncan in the paint all night. But I can't see them getting by the Jazz. East Pick: Cleveland in six. Western Pick: Utah in six. Utah to win Championship in seven over LeBron and the Cavaliers." Moose Salzer

Wed, May 9 07 "NBA Playoffs! Baby Bulls All the Way to Meet Phoenix! Those Amazing Warriors!" Moose Salzer

Eastern Conference:
Chicago v. Detroit.
One of these Detroit teams will fall; either the Red Wings or the Pistons. With Virginia's Ben Wallace and the Baby Bulls fresh off dumping the overrated Miami Heat, who really weren't all that anyway, I will take the Bulls in seven despite last night's mess. Chris (C-Web) Webber has meant a lot to the Pistons - so far. Detroit WILL NOT get past BOTH the Cavs of 'Z' and LeBron and the Baby Bulls. No Way.

Cleveland v. New Jersey.
Jason Kidd is now tied with Larry Bird for all-time Triple Doubles and is behind only Larry Legend in Playoff Triple-Doubles with 10. Can Jason carry the Nets to their third NBA Championship series in five years? No, not even with the No-Defence playing softie and great scorer Vince Carter. 'Z' will tear them up inside but Rich Jefferson should help the scoring of Jason and Nachbar, with a barrage of threes. Cleveland in six.

"Is Jason Kidd still blowing kisses to his wife when he has a Free Throw? I was watching for a bit the other day but didn't see him get to Free Throw. Surely he is not still doing that Crazy stuff especially seeing he is I believe done with her now. As I said awhile ago that is one of the most disgraceful things I have ever seen in sport!" Myk Aussie

Western Conference:
Interesting stuff here. Golden St., in their first playoffs since 1994-95, when they last had Don Nelson as Coach v. the perennial bridesmaids, The Utah Caucasians, er, ah 'Jazz'. The Jazz can shoot threes better than Golden St., and that may be the key in this series. The glass slipper is about to drop and shatter on what has become a magical run for the Warriors. I still can't believe they finished higher than the Clipper, Kings or Lakers at 42-40 and made the playoffs in the last day of the regular season. As much as I still believe Toronto's Sam Mitchell should be Coach of the Year, I don't think Nellie would be a bad pick!

Phoenix v. the Spurs.
San Antonio and Father-and-Basketball-son duo 'Pop/Duncan' head for the last roundup as far as challenging for the title goes. Interesting in that ex-Clipper playoff backcourt, Piatkowski (Suns) and Brent [Slam-Dunk Champ as a rookie!] Barry (Spurs) are facing each other -  on opposite ends of the court. If they get much time. Both near the end of the trails. In 1997 the Clippers lost to the eventual Champ runner-up Jazz (they lost to the Bulls with a guy named Jordan or Jackson or Johnson winning MVP, I think...). Spurs v. Suns will be an all-time classic. If the Suns do lose, don't expect the controlled sports media to be any kinder on Nash than they were to Dirk when the Mavs were just upset. Silly and I don't agree that Dirk was the problem. Simply put, Coach Avery (lefty) Johnson just got out Coached again - hey, he's still young. Serves the Mavs right for trading the underrated Raef LaFrentz three years ago. Diop and Dampier in the middle suck! Coach Don Nelson, take a bow. The finest job you've done yet. Just don't expect to get by the Utah Caucasians, er, ah 'Jazz', who I saw twice in Salt Lake City in late November.

M.V.P.: Elton Brand, F, Los Angeles Clippers (Tie) Steve Nash, G, Phoenix
Most Professional [Best and Fairest]: Elton Brand, F, Los Angeles Clippers, (Tie) Dirk Nowitszki, Dallas F/Centre

First Round Scores from this weekend:
Detroit 100, Orlando 92,
New Jersey 96, Toronto 91
Chicago 96, Miami 91

Playoff Previews and my Picks:
NBA 61st Championship: Phoenix over Toronto in four. The Canadian G deep sixes the first Canadian Team to make the NBA Finals...

Eastern Conference:
Detroit v. Orlando; Gee, hard one to pick, eh? Not really. The Pistons are loaded and may have their best team yet! Pistons in five. Sorry, Dwight Haward.

Cleveland v. Washington. Without the great Gilbert (Impossible is Zero) Arenas and Caron (The) Butler and their 50 points, the WIZ are just cannon fodder for the rapidly improving Cavaliers. Z will eat 'Em up inside and 'King James' will drive by Washington's smallish lineup. We'll now see how REALLY good Coach Eddie (My Man) Jordan is. Poor guy. Cleveland in four.

Toronto v. New Jersey. Last year I was holding my breath here and there waiting for the ax to fall on poor Coach Sma Mitchell. Even after a 13-18 start early this year I thought he was a goner. Not so, holmes. Mitch ahs got 'Em on the run in the East. I still think It'll come down to Detroit and Clevland in the East, but

Chicago or Toronto could still make it close...

Miami v. Chicago. Stop me if you heard me say this last year - The Baby-boy Bulls will bully up on the has been from Miami Vice, Florida. It'll happen this year. With idiot official Joey Crawford on suspension for (get this - ) trying to pick a fight with Spurs Tim Dunk'in' (!), the Heat will be run out of the building!

Chicago in five.

Western Conference:
Dallas(2)  v. Golden St. (7). Don Nelson, the NBA's 'The Don' back in Big 'D' v. the kid-man who he brought up through the ranks, Avery (Lefty) Johnson. No girlee-man, 44-year old stud Kevin (Post-up) Willis is back in the fold for one last try at that Championship ring. Golden St.'s first playoff appearance since 1995-96, when 'The Don' last Coached in Oakland. How the Warriors caught the Clippers and Lakers for number seven is one of the great mysteries of the year. But it'll end in Dallas in four.

Utah(4) v. Houston(5). It doens't matter that Yao Ming is playinf the best 'ball of the season, the misnamed Jazz, who I covered two games for MYKwebTV back in November will cruise. Even with Andrei Commie-lenko out of the lineup, this team of mostly Caucasians (and cousins) will wjip Jeff Van Gundy's No-Defence group from Space City in five. Maybe six. Utah could go one or two rounds further.

San Antonio(3) V. Denver(6). Poor George Karl. Denver has one of the really good guys and Coaches in the League, but these guys always end up with a murderous first round opponent. Where's Dan Issel inside when you need him? Back in Denver selling real estate, last I heard. Marcus Camby leaps like an out-of-control pogo stick and there is no Defense in a back court as small as Al Iverson and Steve Blake, both major additions through trades this year. Playing the Spurs will be as bad as ranking horn with Elton Brand and the Clippers last year - Spurs in five. Take that Joey Crawford!

Phoenix(1) v. L.A.(8). The Suns met these guys in the first round last year and Kobe Bryant and ex-Clipper Lamar (Lefty) Odom and son of ex-Clipper Luke Walton were great the first four games as L.A. got out to a 3-1 advantage. Then the Suns woke up and trashed the fLakers in three straight. Is anybody out there dumb enough to bet me the Lakers could last 7 v. Steve (M.V.P.) Nash and Co. again this year? Not with 'Krypotonite' Piatkowski on that deep Suns bench. Pike has had Kobe's number for years and that's why the Suns brought the wiley vet in. Just in case. Suns in four. Can I make that three?

Thanks you from Michele: To Clipper Nation, through thick and thin, you guys are the best! Even with both point guards injured most of the year, the Clips were in the playoff race (and with some tie-breakers, too) until the last game of the season. To the great fans of Oklahoma City, OK, for the great support of the displaced New Orlean Hornets during the past two years and the great work of the underrated Coach Byron Scott, who not too long ago took the New Jersey Nets to two NBA Championship Series. Here's wishing ex-Mr. Clipper Eric Piatkowski the best of luck to finally win that elusive Championship ring, with the powerhouse Suns!

NBDL Playoff Picks:
Idaho OVER Colorado
Sioux Falls OVER Dakota
Albuquerque OVER Fort Worth

Championship Pick:
Albuquerque OVER Dakota in six" Moose

NBA report! Clippers beat Lakers again and win the City Series for the first time since they moved to L.A. in 1984!" Moose Salzer

Last night I stayed up until past 1 a.m. (once again - I was up until past 3 a.m. the night before as the Dallas South Stars (5-4) lost to Vancouver in 4 OTs in the NHL) in total satisfaction, as the Los Angeles Clippers beat their hated rivals, the L.A. Lakers, 118-110. The Clippers were down by as many as 17 points in the third quarter as Kobe Bryant tallied 50 points in the game. The Clippers started out with an explosive 25-11 lead in the first quarter.

But following a technical foul on Bryant, who cussed at Official Joey Crawford (one of the League's worst!), after he fouled Clips Corey Maggette (who burned Bryant for a career high 39 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists), Bryant caught fire scoring 11 unanswered points. Elton Brand, Sam (I Am) Cassell and Chris Kaman also played very well in the Clippers win, especially in the fourth quarter comeback. Off the bench, the Lakers had the upper hand in the first half as the Clips went cold. But in the fourth, when the game was really on the line, it was Bryant who went scoreless for the final 8:32 of the game! After hitting his 15th FT with 8:32 left, Kobe missed his last 6 shots of the game and got no help from his teammates (again) down the stretch.

The Clippers used their league leading Defence (second year in-a-row ranked number #1 in the NBA) to smother Bryant, often with two or three men, in the fourth quarter! Brand scored 32 points, Cassell 19, Tim Thomas and Kaman and G Cutino (Lefty) Mobley 10 apiece for the Clippers who are now in seventh place in the Western Confernce playoffs spots. The loss was especially damaging for the Lakers, who have lost nine of their last fourteen games. The Clippers have now won twelve of their last seventeen. The Clippers by virtue of having beaten the Lakers three of four times this year are a half game back and the Golden St. Warriors tied with them. The Clippers hold the edge on the Warriors, who they have beaten two of three times. Surprisingly the Warriors have also beaten the Lakers three of four times this year, so L.A. could miss the playoffs for the second time in three years. The Clippers could finish higher than the Lakers for the third consecutive year, which would also be a team record.

Around the League Tidbits: Virginia's Rick Carlisle, who I had the misfortune of having to play in three sports here in high school, is currently the Pacers Coach and had this quote about his team's loss in Philly the other night; " We couldn't hit a bull in the behind with a bass fiddle" Reason: The Pacers hit only 33% of it's FG attempts in the game." Moose Salzer

NBA Update! Suns eclipse Mavs winning streak! Clippers cut Lakers second place lead in Pacific West to two games!" Michele DeWalt

Around the League: NBA Kiwi back! Luke Schenscher, formerly of the  Georgia Tech Yellowjackets, is back in the League after a short stint in the NBDL ('AAA'). Schenscher scored two points in the Trailblazers eight point loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers have won 9 of their last 12 games and are now 36-37, and in seventh place in the  NBA West playoff mix. They finished fifth last year and can still catch the Lakers (now 38-34) for second place. Speaking of ex-Clippers, Ast. Coach Alvin Gentry and reserve G/F Eric Piatkowski are on the Suns bench and have both made contributions to the Suns great run this year. Pike is now serving as a player-Coach type.

Also still mathematically alive in the West is the (Oakland) Golden St.  Warriors (35-38). The Indiana Pacers finally won their second game in the last 11 as Mike Dunleavy, Jr., and Troy Murphy (both ex-Warriors) scored over 20 points in last night's Indy win. Here's a look at the playoff standings as they are now.

Western Conference:1)  Dallas, (2) Phoenix, (3) Utah, (4) San Antonio, (5) Houston, (6) L.A. Lakers, (7) Los Angeles Clippers, (8) Denver

Eastern Conference: 1) Detroit, (2) Toronto, (3) Washington, (4) Cleveland, (5) Chicago, (6) Miami, (7) New Jersey, (8) Orlando." Michele DeWalt

Mon, April 2 07 "NCAA Basketball Championship Tonight; My Pick, Florida Gators to repeat!" Moose Salzer

The Florida Gators could do what their Footy mates did two months ago be repeating in an NCAA School Championship two months ago the Football Gators also beat Scottie Terna's The Ohio State. My Pick: Florida by six. Also: Soojin Yoon of the kid's section of our paper here needs to grow up about Scott Pollard. Yes, I agree Pollard shouldn't have looked into the camera and said 'Hey kids, do drugs.' But young Yoon's comment that Pollard, 'better known for his hairdos than his performance on the court', is way off base. Pollard is one of the best reserve Centre/Forwards in the League. Yoon can take his 'political-incorrect' psychobabble and stick it up his kilt!

Also, best wishes for a speedy recovery to ex-NBA'r Forward and left-handed bass player!) Waymon Tisdale, 42, who is recovering from treatment for the  removal of a cancerous cyst below his right knee. And ex-Clipper Quinton Richardson, now stuck with awful Isiah Thomas and the New York Knickerbockers, who just had back surgery. Mr. Brandy  has never lived up to his potential, just like his boss, Isiah. But I  like Quint, so I thought I would pass along best wishes" Moose Salzer

Wed, Mar 27 07 "NBA Clippers still chasing the Lakers by three games but red-hot again, as is Dallas! NCAA report!" Michele DeWalt, Moose Salzer

The Bucks have a new Coach: Larry Krystowiak (pronouced 'Chris-To-We-Ack') For those who don't know Larry Krystowiak or don't remember him, he replaced Terry Stotts, who will be an Assistant for George Karl in Denver now. Stotts, who assisted Coached Karl in Seattle and Milwaukee, was replaced by top Assistant Krystowiak last Thursday. Krystowiak was one of the best Fs in Milawuakke history and is 6'9". He should be a welcome addition to helping Aussie Andrew  Bogut get better.

Bogut has been moved around to all three front court Pos(s) this year and has never got into a rhythm. He will now only play PF. Kyrstowiak was on his way to becoming one of the best Power Forwards in the NBA with the Bucks in the early '90's when he blew his knee and took almost one-and-a half years to recover. He later played for the L.A. Lakers. Since, in the 21st century, Krystowiak has been an Assistant to Coach Blaine Taylor at Scott Baxter's Almer Mater, Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and Coached the Norfolk Collegiate High School program and one year later became the Idaho Stampede of the CBA ("AA")'s Head Coach, before joining Stott's Staff in '05. The Bucks, who made the NBA playoffs with a 40-42 record last year, are 24-43 and still have a mathematic chance to make the playoffs again this year. Good luck in their effort!

The Los Angeles Clippers have won five in a row and six of the last eight games and trail the cross-town Lakers, who's Kobe Bryant has scored 42-60 points in six straight games, third in NBA history. Too bad he's still a Defensive liability, though. But at least he's tried this year, to  at least give an effort on that end of the floor. The Lakers got a major break, or should I say 'breakS', when some of ex-Clipper League MVP Bill Walton, F Luke and F/G Lamar Odom came back off the IR to help keep the Lakers just ahead of the Clippers for the seventh Playoff spot in the Western Conference of the NBA. Just as it was looking like Oakland's Golden St. Warriors MIGHT make the NBA playoffs for the first time since Don Nelson was there in 1995-96, the Warriors lost two close games and are now pointing fingers at each other again, especially the malcontent, Baron Davis. It wasn't enough that Larry Bird and Rick Carlisle of Indianapolis fleeced aging Coach Nelson out of Mike Dunleavy, the Jr., and Troy Murphy, but the 4 for 4 deal has been horribly one-sided v. the Warriors and Indy proved a very good point with a recent win over them.

Sacramento's Ron Arrest lived up to his name again, by being charged with 'battery' v. his new wife and will have to face violation, and new charges and may miss the rest of the season. It just hasn't been Coach Eric Musselman's year as he got a drunk driving charge  early in the season and then Artest has just not let quality point G Mike Bibby, ex-(of the Vancouver - remember them?!) Grizzlies see the ball enough. That coupled with the fact that great passing Centre Mike Miller has been hurt most of the year hasn't allowed the Kings (or is it Princes? Or Queens?!) compete with the Clippers, Lakers and Suns in the Western Conference Pacific Division.

Tues, Mar 20 07 "NBA Update! Focus on the amazing Dallas Mavericks! Andrea Bargnani player spotlight! California Hoops! NCAA Results and radio report on March Madness!" Moose Salzer and  Michele DeWalt

From Michele "The Dallas Mavericks are hot as Mike Modano right now and have won 18 straight NBA games setting a franchise record! Since losing the NBA Championship last June after leading the series 2-0, on some of the worst officiating of all time, the Mavs of Coach Avery Johnson have been on a  tear all season. The Mavs have the best record in the NBA  and have been it's top seed all year. A 'shaven-headed' and focused Dirk Nowitszki has been burning up the track as they are the favorites to win it all this year. Recently v. the Suns, Clippers and Lakers, three playoff teams from the Western Conference, who were in the dance last year, the Mavericks showed much depth and style as they continue to win, win, win. With an improved roster of Nowitszki, G Gee Terry and reserves like Austin Croshere (no longer french for Mike Dunleavy, Jr.), the Mavs are the team to beat in the race for the 61st NBA Championship.

Player Spotlight: Andrea Bargnani, F, Toronto Raptors, Italy. 6'11.5", 246 lbs. Born: Oct. 26th, 1985. Favorite Player: San Antonio's Manu Ginobilli. Favorite Band: Cheap Trick. Bargnani has been a real big help to Canadian Matt Bonner and all-star F Chris Bosh, as Coach Sam Mitchell's Raptors have surprised everybody and look to make the playoffs for only the third time in their team's history. The Raptors may have the lowest winning percentage in NBA history (.325%) but that'll change soon.

California Hoops: Clippers, Lakers, Warriors get badly needed wins this weekend. Lakers Kobe Bryant, coming off his second suspension of the season (he's elbowed three white guys this year and the league has him under a microscope now), scored 65 points last night in the Lakers win. The Clippers blew out the Carolina Bobcats, 102-89, and the Bobcats announced they won't be utilizing Bernie Bickerstaff at Coach next year. Team

Executive Mike Jordan said Bernie's place in the organization is safe (why?!), but he'll be in the front office next year. Bickerstaff, a young quality Assistant Coach back in the '70's in three NBA Finals with Washington (one win - '78), has been fatigued lately. It's their own fault for investing so much in Mr. No Defence, Adam Morrison! The Clippers are injured only slightly less than the Lakers and the Warriors are right now in eighth place, two games behind the Lakers and a half percentage point (!) ahead of the Clippers. Expect only one of these teams (probably Clippers) to make the playoffs, as Denver's one-name wonder Nene' (I thought that was a Hawai'ian goose, state bird?!) has finally stayed healthy to go with Al Iverson and Carmello (he isn't 'Mello) Anthony. The Minnesota T'Wolves are also in the race." Michele DeWalt
