Cup Report! Saskatchewan 23 defeat Winnipeg 19! Kerry Joseph profile! In
studio with Gabriel Morency!" Moose Salzer
Historical
notes.
It was the first time in the 99 year history of the CFL that the Saskatchewan
Roughriders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers played each other in the Grey Cup.
The
Saskatchewan Roughriders won their third Grey Cup in team history to go with
14 losses for the (combined) Saskatchewan/Regina Roughriders. Their record now
in the CFL Championship since they entered in 1910, 3-14.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers lost their 15th all-time Grey Cup. They are now:
10-15. They entered the league in 1930 as the Winnipeg 'Pegs and became the
Blue Bombers in 1936.
QB
Kerry Joseph, who played very averagely in the game (100 yds., rushing, but
only 13 of 34 passing for 101 yds.) now has two Championship rings from Pro
Football himself; he got the first in the 1998 NFL E Bowl with the Rhein Fire
as a reserve S / PR.
Ed
Philion, who played for many years with the Buffalo Bills / Montreal Alouettes
also played on that Rhein Fire team. Poor Milt Stegall, Winnipeg SB will have
to come back for a 14th season next year to compete for another ring. I would
rate the Blue Bombers the favorite right now, if QB Kevin Glenn is fully
recovered from his left arm injury. It would have been a different story for
the Bombers if Glenn, a former Roughrider QB had played. I really don't blame
Ryan Dinwiddie if you consider the lousy game plan the Blue Bombers used in
the final 1:21 of the game.
Think
about it; Dinwiddie throws two great bullet passes and the Blue Bombers have
the ball at the Roughriders side of the 55 yard line and it's second and half
a yard and the Bombers call for Dinwiddie to throw down into the teeth of
the Roughriders GREAT Defense and guess what? Most Outstanding Player, S James
Johnson gets his third INT of the game. Case closed. I mean don't get me
wrong, I was elated that the R'Riders won the game (As twenty-share owner). I
did pick them to lose simply because I didn't believe in Kerry Joseph AS A QB
in a big game. Still don't after that second worst passing performance in Grey
Cup history by a Grey Cup winning QB, 13 of 34 passing. Only Anthony
Calvillo's 11 of 31 in '02 in Edmonton is worse. And the scary thing is
Calvillo got MVP that game! Nonetheless Joseph did do a classy thing by giving
Momma the game ball following the win. It won't get any better for him in the
future than that. Drink one for us Kerry and Congratulations, R'Riders!
Kerry L.
Joseph Career Profile.
Age: 35 (Born 1972), 6'1" 225 lbs., McNeese St U., LA [home school of the
Detroit Pistons Joe Dumars], QB-RB-DB-ST'r-PR. Graduated in 1994. Signed and
cut by the Cincinnati Bengals. Signed in 1995 by the Buffalo Bills and
released. Signed by Washington-NFL and played RB in three preseason games and
released. Signed in 1997 by the NFLE London Monarchs. Played four games at QB
and released in 1998. Signed by the NFLE Rhein Fire and played nickel-back (S)
and PR on the NFLE Champion team and won a World Bowl ring and released.
Signed by the San Francisco 49ers in 1999 and played in fourteen games on ST's
and then released.
Signed by the Seattle Seahawks in 2001 and played in fifteen games in the next
two years, starting one at LB and two at S and released in 2003. Has played in
the CFL as mostly a starting QB with Saskatchewan and Ottawa. Career playoff
record as QB: 3-2. Won second Championship ring with the Saskatchewan
Roughriders in 2007 season in 23-19 Grey Cup win over Winnipeg.

Eastern Conference Semi-Finals:
Winnipeg 24, Montreal 22
Western Conference Semi-Finals:
Saskatchewan 26, Calgary 24
Eastern Conference Final: Winnipeg Blue Bombers (11-7-1) at Toronto
Argonauts (11-7-0). Game 1 p.m., EST at SkyDome (Rogers Centre).
Players to watch, Winnipeg: WR/SB Milt Stegall, K Troy Westwood, QB, MVP
Candidate '07 Kevin Glenn, OL Dan Goodspeed, OL/DL-ST'r Jon Oosterhuis, RB
Charles Roberts.
Toronto: It all comes down to QB Mike Bishop, the perennially doubted one. If
Bishop runs the table the next two weeks and wins the Argos the Grey Cup he'll
not be going back to the Ar.FL anytime soon. '07 season Most Outstanding
Player Award candidate from the East, Kevin Glenn (70%!), QB-passer must do
what he did last week v. the Alouettes - survive! He's done it all season. No
reason to doubt he'll do it again. Pick: Winnipeg 30, Toronto 22. Sorry Coach
Pinball and Co!
Western
Conference Final: Saskatchewan Roughriders (13-6-0) at Vancouver's B.C. Place,
4 p.m. v. the Defending Grey Cup Champion B.C. Lions (14-3-1). Players to
watch, B.C. Lions: OL Rob Murphy, WR/SB Geroy Simon, SB-TE Jason
Clermont, QB Jarious Jackson (or Buck Pierce? How about Dave Dickenson?
Doesn't matter...), Saskatchewan: RB-ST'r Wes Cates, RB-ST'r , WRs Andy Fantuz,
OB Kerry Joseph. Is there any way to derail the mighty, mighty but QB
injury-prone Leos? Probably no this year. Coach Wally Buono will chase Don
Matthews the rest of his career, which is winding down but they will beat the
upstart Roughriders this weekend - barely. Pick: B.C. Lions 21, Saskatchewan
20, OT." Moose

Won Calgary the '01 Grey Cup over favored Winnipeg with Most Outstanding
Player performance of 18 of 35 passing for 309 yds and 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 0

Back, 39 year old RB Sean Millington!
Sean started his career in 1991 with the old Ottawa Rough Riders and later
along with another Joseph, the FB from Ottawa, went to the B.C. Lions where he
made his bread and butter. Millington came out of retirement several years ago
to go back to Toronto and Pinball Clemons, in the only clear headed thinking
he's exhibited this year, also moved versatile DL Jeff Keeping back to the FB
position and he hasn't played badly there at all with 3 carries and two
catches. He'll start again at FB this week, but don't be surprised to see him
play DL/OL also at #78. Millington's career numbers are at: Rushing: 5,220
yards, Receiving: 213 catches for 2,583 more yards. Career 66 TDs. Welcome
back Sean. Now that gets his gloves out of the studio!
CFL
Historical Marks!
Doug Flutie, British Columbia, Calgary, Toronto, who just became the first
American to be inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in Toronto,
Ontario, [Oct. 25th, 2007] still is the career leader in rushing TDs by a QB
with 13. Kerry Joseph is second with 11.

B.C. Lions 37, Edmonton 26
Saskatchewan 38, Hamilton 11.
My opinion as to the
greatest CFL WRs and SBs in the 99 year history of the league:
1) Milt Stegall, Winnipeg
2) Darren Flutie, Hamilton, Edmonton, B.C. Lions
3) Allen Pitts, Calgary
4) Ray Elgaard, Saskatchewan
5) Terry Vaughan, Calgary, Hamilton, Edmonton, Ottawa
Crossover still mathematically alive for Edmonton Eskimos.
Fear not Edmonton Eskimo fans, your crossover playoff possibility still
has wings, so to speak. Montreal must lose one and tie one, or loss both and
Edmonton will allow the CFL Western Conference to have a clean sweep in the
CFL 98th playoffs.
Right now Montreal (7-9-0) is just ahead of the Esks (5-10-1) in the standings
heading into week 18. The 2007 CFL season features a 19 week, 18 game schedule
with two weeks to go to the playoffs. Playoff picture will probably be decided
in one week but it could go two. Edmonton really does need to win out, though
another tie wouldn't kill them. Montreal needs to win one more coupled with an
Edmonton loss to clinch. Wouldn't it be cool for the Eskies to enter the CFL
playoffs as an Eastern Conference team? It would definitely be a first! Good
luck to all nine teams the rest of the way out and here's to a return of the
Ottawa RoughRenegades and bring on the Atlantic Schooners!

From Moose "Profile: Winnipeg
QB Kevin Glenn. Kevin's Glenn's first Pro start was as a Saskatchewan
Roughriders QB on Sept. 2nd, 2001. I know. I was there. It was v. the Winnipeg
Blue Bombers, ironically enough and Saskatchewan lost, 20-18. But Glenn is an
interesting story. He turned down several offers from the Ar.FL when the
Roughriders gave him a tryout. He moved into third among Saskatchewan QBs very
quickly and with the injuries to Keith Smith and Marvin Graves, who was also
an Ar.FL vet, Glenn started 5 games for the Roughriders in '01. He left
following the '04 season and signed as a F/A with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
and has improved every year since.
He almost lost his starting job to current
Chicago Ar.FL'r, lefty Russ "Mickey" Michna, but when Michna signed in both
there home state, Illinois, Glenn has since relaxed and become the best QB
this year in the Eastern Conference. Gone are the days of indecisiveness and
inconsistent performances. This season Glenn is on pace to possibly win the
CFL's Most Outstanding Player award and is completing 71% of his passes. If I
had a vote, I would vote for him as M.V.P. right now." Moose Salzer

"Welcome Back"...to ex-Kansas
City/B.C.Lions QB Casey Printers who last week signed with the Hamilton
Tiger-Cats. Printers basically told the Chiefs to jump in a lake when they
wanted to stash him on the practice squad as their number three QB. The Chiefs
have bombed with ancient Damon Huard and greenie Brodie Croyle at pivot so
far. Serves them and know-nothing Coach Herm Edwards right. To make room for
Casey, the Tiger-Cats traded QB Jason Maas to Montreal. And speaking of the
Alouettes their FB Mike Villimek is out for the year with a knee injury.

Trends - It would be very
unwise for any CFL teams to overlook the Winnipeg Blue Bombers down the
stretch since their Defence and QB Kevin Glenn, who's getting better all the
time have woken up!
In the Eastern Conference: Timmy Chang watch: W-L record lifetime in Pros:
1-3. Stats in the CFL this year: Att(s): 96 - Comp(s): 50 - Yds: 604, 2 TDs, 7
INTs.
Western Conference Player
watch: Marcus Crandell, Saskatchewan QB:
Att(s): 59 - Comp(s): 37 - Pct:% 62.7 - Yds: 493 - 2 TDs - 3 INTs
K. Joseph Rushing: No: 55 -
Yds: 439 - 6 TDs. Each week we'll highlight different players stats, but since
Timmy Chang is one of my homers from Hawai'i I want Super Bowl Wayne and
others back in Oah'u to keep up.
CFL QB Watch: Though K. Joseph and M. Crandell give the Roughriders the
deepest QB Duo in the CFL at the moment, Toronto's Mike Bishop, the perpetual
Ar.FL, offseason CFL'r is back from injury and on fire for the Argos, who may
just yet catch Montreal. Hamilton is in a flux with a not-ready-for-CFL-primetime
T.R. Chang still learning on the run in the great white North. Montreal is
still rolling with a good 1-2 punch in Anthony (50,000 yds.+) Calvillo, who
should be good for a few more years backed by Marcus Brady (no relation to
Tom!). Calgary wonders from week to week which Hank Burris will show up and
B.C. wonders who'll stay healthy. Look for there to be no controversy the rest
of the year for Winnipeg with 70% completer K. Glenn, Montreal, Edmonton,
Toronto if Bishop stays healthy and Calgary since Jason Maas old buddy from
Oregon, Akili Smith (how'd he get a Hawai'ian name?) is just treading water in
the dying embers of his Pro career which the sand has almost run out of the
hourglass on! More cliches next week!

You are now receiving this report from the newest part-owner of the
Saskatchewan Roughriders. I bought 20 shares (the max) on July 28th. I won't
tell you what they charged me in American
dollars, but it wasn't the $5,000 Canadian on the site. So go Riders!
Hawai'i's
Timmy Chang takes over in Hamilton. Former Rhein Fire/Philadelphia
Eagle/Detroit Lion and Arizona Cardinal TC is now the starter in
Steel City, Canada. Chang got promoted to the starting line-up
directly after the Tiger-Cats lost their seventh game of the year last
week. Saying he was thrilled to be starting his third Pro game, and first in
the CFL, a higher league than the NFL E ('AAA') Fire of a year and a half ago,
Chang also offered his 'keep-your-chin-up' to fellow QB Jason Maas, who
frankly has not adapted well to the CFL Eastern Conference after helping the
Edmonton Eskimos to two Grey Cup wins in the West ('05 & '03).
Hamilton Coach Charlie Taaffe said all the right things about Jason as he
relieved him of his starting role following the Ti-Cats 1-7-0 start. Maas, who
has completed 57% of his passes for 6 TDs and 6 INTs, is not being benched
because of his performance. Taaffe said Chang asked him for a chance to start
earlier in the year, adding he's not really interested in going back to the
NFL - at least not yet. "I came here to get my name etched on Earl Grey's
Cup", said TC. "I'm not ready to leave 'O Canada until I do." Timmy, don't
hold your breath, at least not this year. But for now Chang gets to learn
about one of our favorite things in the CFL - Labour Day games tradition. Dumb
Moves, part I.
Tim Chang's starting with Hamilton couldn't have come at a better time as the
Kansas City Chefs really screwed the pooch by insulting former CFL Most
Outstanding Player award winner Casey Printers, who they demoted to third
string this week (see my NFL column below for more on that boner) and asked
him to go down to the practice squad. Screw 'Em was Printers reaction and he
is seeking to come back to the CFL. Blame idiot Coach Herm Edwards, a CFL
player hater supreme who said as NY Jets Coach several years ago about current
and then former Eskimo Ricky Ray, "He's a nice Canadian kid." ?? Uh,
Herm, Ray was born and raised in California. You mean he was a nice CFL QB
didn't you. Oh, and in the off season Edwards got rid of the Chiefs starting
QB Trent Green - another former CFL'r. Hhmmm...I'm starting to see a
pattern here.
Back to Tim Chang, who long-time watchers may have notice isn't wearing his
familiar number 14. It's a retired number with the Tiger-Cats and so he asked
for number 7, the number of his former backup and time-sharer at
Hawai'i, the recently retired Shawn
Withy-Allen. [Played four seasons in Af2] When asked why he was wearing number
7 Chang answered, "for Shawn since he never got a chance to play up
here. He and I split the QB job at Hawai'i in '02." Now that is a class kid.
Take that Herm Edwards! You don't deserve Withy-Allen, Chang, Green, Printers
or Ray.
Dumb move number two: The Stamps are off the hook as the dopey Argos this week
let go the best return man in the league, Bashir Levingston! As I was going to
the Grey Cup 2007 site on the I-net, I pursued through the Argos site to link
over. Periodically I go through all the CFL sites from time to time. I bought
a few items from the Lions and Eskimos today too. I came across one of the
stupidest postings I could ever imagine. Pinball Clemens, who's really
come down in my eyes as a CFL Coach, had this to say: "As I told Bashir in
private, and am saying now in public, I thanked him for his loyalty and the
four-and-a-half years he's given the Argo family."
Say what? What does that tell us? Did he get in trouble with the law? Did he
bad mouth the organization? Does anybody in Canada know something I missed in
the CFL recently? Why didn't they just cut Damon Allen, who's done next to
nothing this year? Has his hangnail still got him on I.R.? They could save
about $200,000 to get rid of the useless Allen but instead they fire a (about
my sources in their organization tell me) $95,000 cdn kick returner, the best
in the league. They also cut recently signed Lubbock Af2 QB Robert Kent from
Lubbock. Are they over the dumb 'Imports' limit? I can't figure that one out.
Why do they still need the always injured Allen if they have Bishop, McMahon
and Rocky Butler at pivot? Why is
Pinball suddenly a 'Pinhead'? So Higgins and the Stamps are off the hook for
now. Best to all the CFL teams this Labour Day weekend!" Moose Salzer

699 yds., 17 more NFL TDs catches was waived by the Stampeders along with DLm
Tyler Lynem in two of the dumbest moves in club history which may jeopardize
their Grey Cup attempt. Several fans who e-mail me have called for Coach Tom
Higgins head.
Ditto for slumping QB Hank Burris who I have to defend once again. Burris
plays QB and I admit not always up to his very good potential but he had
nothing to do with Boertighter and Lynem's cuts. The money saving Stamps
'screwed the pooch' (and not Mike Vick's dead ones either!) and are taking a
hell of a gamble with these cost cutting moves. Don't worry though Stamps
fans. They will be picked up soon by some other CFL club.
In other CFL News, as we approach Labour Day. the Montreal Alouettes put SB/K
Dave Stala on I.R. for an indefinite period with a broken foot.

Congratulations to Anthony
Calvillo, pivot of the Montreal Alouettes for getting to 50,000+ career CFL
yards. He is only the fourth CFL and eighth overall Pro QB to do it. His
career Stats will be featured when Rich puts it in this column next week.
Career Stats for Hamilton's young backup pivot
Timmy Chang:

Problems and Injuries for some
CFL clubs, and some good trades so far: Saskatchewan - The trade for Wes Cates
and Rob Lazeo (who went to Calgary - has helped both clubs out well - so far.
Hamilton - Jason Maas, with Timmy Chang, the NCAA's all-time leading passer
breathing down his neck, caused the ex-Edmonton two-time Grey Cup winner to
break out with a bang this past weekend as the Ti-Cats had a season high of 43
points. I still believe, as does Rich that Hamilton will make the playoffs.
Montreal has had some Offensive problems, here and there this year, but QB
Anthony Calvillo has topped 50,000+ yards and could probably go another 3 yrs.
B.C. Lions - The defending
Champ Leos have had QB injury problems but with Buck Pierce, who broke all of
ex-Calgary, N.Y. Giants, Miami and Philadelphia pivot (1974-84), Joe
Pisarcik's records at Mexico St. University, coming back they should keep the
pressure on Saskatchewan in the West. B.C also has Defensive studs like Otis
Floyd out which has caused the team to look very mortal the last few weeks.
Game Seven Picks.

Being in the Media Centre in
New Orlean on Saturday at the N.O. Arena for ArenaBowl XXI, I was the only one
who had his ear glued to the CFL, Saskatchewan v. Edmonton. What a blowout. I
am starting to see why Roughriders Coach Kent Austin is using
inconsistent Kerry Joseph at the starter and Marcus Crandell as the number 2.
Yesterday for example Joseph was platooned with just 15 passes (he went 11 for
15) and did mostly handoffs and runs himself. Joseph is a serious running
threat and when not turning over the ball, he can be an effective ball-control
QB. Marcus is the pure passer and I still think has one Grey Cup win left in
him.
Then I still think Kurt Warner
has either one more ArenaBowl or Super Bowl in him too. Winners never quit and
Quitters never win. It's as simple as that. Austin, Crandell and Warner are
winners. Enough said. The Argos and Hamilton will continue to struggle for
awhile.

Former VHSL Coach and CFL player Joe Langston, r.i.p, here in Virginia. Former
I.C. Norcom Football and Track Coach Joe Langston died last week Tuesday at
age 66.5. Langston had been ill for some time. Langston lead the Greyhounds to
the VHSL Div. 5 St. AAA Football Championship with the likes of ex-Norfolk Af2
player Jay Clarke back in 1993. He last played in the CFL for Montreal on
their 1970 Grey Cup Championship team, lead by Coach Sam 'The Rifle' Echeverry
and QB Sonny Wade, the CFL's most underrated QB of all-time. Wade QB'd
Montreal to 5 Grey Cup appearances in the 1970's, winning three.
Most Improved QBs in the last
couple years has to Winnipeg's Kevin Glenn and Calgary's Henry 'Hank' Burris.
Both played very well in their respective teams wins this past weekend. But on
the other side of the coin, as was discussed at 1:30 - 1:45 a.m. with host
Gabriel Morency on the Sports Rage After Hours show, Channel 186, Toronto
Sirius Radio, Damon Allen is through. Don't let that TD-on-the-last-play
Jazz fool ya. Not even in Utah Jazz country.
The Argos I can't figure out.
I agree that 5-yr. NFL vet Mike McMahon should be the starter at pivot since
Mike Bishop is hurt. Rookie CIS WR Brad Smith is the son of former
Commissioner Larry Smith, who is now Montreal G.M./V.P. Toronto is really
slumming at RB with 0that bum J. White (#6) who sucks and I don't know
why RB John Avery, who all but won the Argos that Grey Cup in '04 is still not
active. Is Pinball now a pinhead? Virginia's Charles Roberts was a killer down
the stretch in Montreal with his great running and pass catching. He even
attempts to block at 5'6", 171 lbs. What a player!
New updated CFL passing
stats:
Milestones - Anthony Calvillo now third in CFL history with 52,000+ yds. Danny
McManus and Ron Lancaster still ahead. Toronto LB Mike O'Shea the former
Detroit Lion, Hamilton Tiger-Cat is now in his 15th Pro season and has well
over 1,090 tackles. Third most in CFL history to Alondra Johnson and the great
Willie Pless, who was also a very good short yardage FB/TE. Pless is already
in the CFL Hall of Fame and O'Shea is a few years away from that as well!
Game Balls in the CFL this
week:
1) Kevin Glenn, QB, Winnipeg
2) Henry Burris, QB, Calgary
3) Markus Howell, KR/WR, Calgary
4) Craig Dickenson, Special Teams Coach, Calgary
5) B.C. Lions QB Buck Pierce
Week 5 Picks:
Montreal OVER Toronto (who should keep starting Mike McMahon, who is rusty)
Hamilton <Tie> Winnipeg
Saskatchewan OVER Edmonton
Calgary OVER B.C. Lions.
CFL 99th Season Preview - Calgary (Or
Montreal!) All the Way!" Moose Salzer
"Note some player movements may have happened
since Moose wrote this a couple of week ago." Myk Aussie
1) Calgary Stampeders,
74th year. Won five Grey Cups, played in eight. Coach: Tom Higgins. QBs: Henry
Burris, Akili Smith, Stephan LeFors. Other Key Players: Brett Ralph, WR,
Sandro DeAngelis, K, Wes Lysack, S, Gilles Lezi, FB, Brian Clark, Scott Coe
and Cornie Anthony and Brandi N. Harris of Virginia Beach's friend.
Outlook and look back to last year; Henry Burris may have imploded in the
playoffs to Saskatchewan, whom he used to play for but no way will it happen
again. With a great Receiving corps of 7-yr., NFL vet Marc Boerigter, who left
after this team won it's last Grey Cup, in '01, joined by Nik Lewis, who is
the second best PR in the League after Toronto's Bashir Levingston, - Ryan
Thelwell, Markus Howell, Ken- Yon Rambo and Elijah Thurmon, the Stamps will
lead the Western Conference in passing by default! Not even the Defending
Champ B.C. Lions have a better group of Receivers.
The running game is lead by the Offencive Line of: Cheater Jay McNeil, the
dirtiest player in the league, Jeff Pilon John Comiskey and Derek Armstrong.
The RBs will again be after last year's shocking release of 'Tigerman' Tony
Stallings, Wes Cates, a great backup and special teams player and no worse
than the league's second best, Joffrey Reynolds, who first got his feet wet in
the Pros with that spring 'AAA' league that is no more, NFL Europa
(Frankfurt).
The Defence is lead by the
line, minus the recently retired Sheldon Napastuk, and now without
ex-Baltimore Stallion Demetrius Maxie; Miguel Robede, Keron Williams, Randy
Chevrier (Barcelona, '01). The linebacking corps is the best in the CFL by
far! Brandon Haw, Shannon James, Lysack, who may be the best S in the CFL West
and Walt Spencer, number #46 (Keep that in mind when studying this team's
Defence. The Special Teams has a great couple of returnmen in Cates, who is
also the 'gunner' and Nik Lewis. The K Sandro DeAngelis IS the 'Best in the
West. Period. Getting Jaden Volchoff from Af2 Birmingham for the OL could help
also. Prediction: Only a complete collapse can keep Higgins from winning his
second Grey Cup, in Alberta with his second Pro team. They should win at least
11 or 12 games, but will struggle, as always when they face Saskatchewan in
the playoffs. This time they win, especially if the Roughriders don't have
ex-Calgary Grey Cup magnet Marcus Crandell in the Lineup. 95th Grey Cup Winner
Over Montreal or Hamilton.
2) Montreal Alouettes,
55th season (includes 1994-95 as Baltimore Stallions), Six Grey Cup wins
{Baltimore '95]. G.M. / Coach, ex-Stallion Jim Popp. QBs: Anthony Calvillo
[who just hit 50,000+ career yds, moving into 14th place all-time behind John
Elway of Denver-NFL), Marcus Brady, (Jessie 'The Batchelor/Body' Palmer, the
wimp retired, the quitter!), Eric Crouch.
Other Key players: K Damon Duval, RBs Avon (not Este Lauder!) Cobourne
[Cologne '04] and All-time Great Walt Payton's son Jarrett, Centre Brian Chiu,
Hawai'i's DL Nwerken 'Tony' Akpan, CB Lamont Brightful, SBs Ben Cahoon
and Dave Stala, who can also play K/QB/RB and S Etiene Boulay. Retirements,
retirements, retirements. First RB Eric LaPointe. Then WR Sylvain Girard and
then DL Ed Philion (Two Grey Cups and won NFLE Championship, '98 with Rhein).
Then the spoiled Canadian QB-quitter, Palmer, the wimp. Offence will rally
around Payton (Amsterdam's Champ '05 team MVP) and QB Calvillo, Receiver
Cahoon and Cobourne. If they don't suffer any injuries on that great Offencive
Line (Luke Fritz, Jaden Volchoff, of Af2 Birmingham?, Uzooma Okeke, Paul
Lambert, Scott Flory and Chiu), the running game should dominate the East!
Robert Edwards, FB Mike Villmek and washout Dahrran Diedrick are still around
too. Whoever carries the ball will be blessed by the best Offencive Line in
the East. With the fastest (but injury-prone) WR Girard, another francofone
retired, the depth is thin and Cahoon started to slip last year. An area of
concern.
With big Ed Philion gone
at DL, Sometime TE / Defencive League MVP Anwar Stewart gets help form former
University of Hawai'i Warrior kane basketball player/DE Akpan, born in
Nigeria. The Tackles w
