Bledsoe retires with 44,611 yds. and 251 TDs!
Massive amounts of NFL MYKwebTV!" Moose Salzer
Drew
Bledsoe retires with 44,611 yds. and 251 TDs!
Former first round draft
pick of the NFL, Drew Bledsoe, who played 15 years in the League for the
New England Patriots (in two Super Bowls [1-1]), Buffalo Bills and Dallas
Cowboys retires as Pro Football's
10th leading yardage passer. Bledsoe is behind only Damon Allen, Warren
Moon, Dan Marino, Danny McManus, Brett Favre, John Elway, Fran Tarkenton,
Vinny Testeverde, and Jim Kelly.
Bledsoe was the
Patriots first round pick when Bill Parcells coached the team,
beginning in 1993. In
four years he and Parcells had them in the team's
only second all-time Super Bowl. But they lost Super Bowl XXXI to Brett
Favre and Green Bay, 35-21. Bledsoe threw four TDs but also 4 INTs.
Bledsoe began the 2001 season (in which New England would also go the
the Super Bowl as the Patriots number one QB. But a severe sternum
injury would shelf him six games, and after the Pats 0-2 start, they
reeled off 5 win sin six games with second year Tom Brady as the number
one pivot. Bledsoe would bail the Patriots out with a two-second half
TD performance v. Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship game that would
get the Pats into the Super Bowl, where Brady and K Adam Vinatieri
would upset the favored Kurt Warner-Marshall Faulk lead Saint Louis
Rams, 17-14. Bledsoe sought a trade and went to the Buffalo Bills where
he would set 10 team all-time records including 4,359 yards and 375
completions.
After the 2004 season,
the Bills stupidly released Bledsoe, thinking Kelly Holcomb and J.P.
Lossman would take them further. He started one-and-a-half more years
with the Dallas Cowboys, until he was beaten out after game six last
year by young upstart Tony Romo. Bledsoe won one Super Bowl behind
Brady and lost one as a starter. I currently have Bledsoe as 42nd on my
all-time QBs list. He was the best the Patriots ever had, along with
Doug Flutie and Babe Parilli, until of course the better Tom Brady
arrived as only a sixth round pick, in 2000. Bledsoe walks away
from the game following the
retirement of his favorite Coach, Bill Parcells, with no major injuries. Thanks for the great sportsmanship
and play, Drew!" Moose Salzer

The most coveted NFL free agent in the
2007 off-season arguably is former Atlanta QB Matt Schaub ('03 Univ.
VA). I say former Falcon because he just inked as big money deal with
the AFC's Houston Texans for
three years. He will compete with Sage Rosenfels for the Texans
starting QB job, while the team 'shops' David Carr (wreck).
Former Washington / Atlanta FB-RB T.J. Duckett, from California has
singed a one year - $1 million deal with the Detroit Lions.
In one of the best moves so far this
off-season, Colts WR Brandon Stokley, who has won Super Bowls with both
Tony Dungy's guys in Indy but also in '01 with the Baltimore Ravens,
signed with the Broncos for one year for $2.2 million, no cut. Speaking

Free Agency! Trade Deals Update! Garcia balks at Cowboys, signs for
two-years guaranteed with Tampa Bay Bucs!
Myk's 2

Jeff
Garcia signed for two years with the Tampa Bay Buc's and the team tried
the day before to get Jake Plummer from Denver. Plummer got plenty
riled up about the deal and says he may sit out the 2007 season rather
than move to Tampa Bay. ("Seems he sadly did retire Moose" Myk) To me the deal makes no sense for the Broncos,
who only have Bradlee Van Pelt, the number two guy who has only played
in two games in
'05 and Jay Cutler who was pretty bad down the stretch and probably should
be somebody's second-stringer (or in NFL Europa?). With Brian Griese
secured with the Super Bowl runner-up Bears (four more yrs., on
contract) and Lefty Chris Simms now minus a spleen, the Buc's want QB
insurance aplenty, and got it. It's other three QBs, Tim Rattay,
Cade McCown and Bruce Gradkowski are on the trade block.
Former Tennessee
Titans, Drew Bennett signed with the Saint Louis Rams, who continue to
make deals to bulk up their thin Receiver corps. Joining Bennett, Tory
Holt, Shaun McDonald and Dane Looker are Marc Boerigter and Ricky
Proehl, who may just retire a Ram after all. Bennett signed a contract
for $11.6/mil for five years.*
Houston's Andre
Johnson, who just played in his first Pro Bowl in Honolulu, resigned
with Coach Gary Kubiak's Texans for three more years, digits
undisclosed.
OG Kris Dielman
resigned with the San Diego Chargers, after he learned that the new
Coach will be Norv Turner. Good on Kris that he has confidence in a
Coach with a blistering 58-82-1 record who is 0-1 in the playoffs...
Cincinnati lost All-stud OG Eric Steinbach to the state rival Clevland
Browns for seven years making him the current highest paid OLm in the
NFL.*
The cheapskate Titans also lost RB Travis Henry, which makes no sense,
since he just ran for 1,200+ yards., are they now going to give Walt
Payton's son, Jarrett a chance to be more than a reserve?
Expect the New England
Patriots to be in the hunt for a title again next year by the signing
of RB Sammy Morris (to replace Corey Dillon?), LB Adalius Thomas, TE
Kyle Brady (no relation to soon-to-be-new-daddy Tom), from
Jacksonville.*
Another strange move by
the now strange Broncos was the signing of ancient DT Dan (Big Dada)
Wilkinson, who barely got into 10 games for the wretched Miami "Dull
fins" in '06. Wilkinson, if he makes the team past the final cuts, will
be in his 14th NFL Pro season. He has also played for Detroit,
Cincinnati, Washington." Moose

NFL Champ QB Tom Brady
"apparently" gets his ex preggo!
This is Part of this weeks
Mates Club column. The USA and CDN sports radio shows were very quiet this week but the sports
radio guys loved it when it was made public that Tom Brady the 3 time Super Bowl
QB champ apparently has gotten his ex the actress Bridget Moynahan preggo. I'm
not here to add a picture of Tom and Bridget so go to Google images and simply
type in "Tom Brady and Bridget" to see Tom's ex brown haired beauty. I also read
that the boss from condomman.com sent Tom lots of dingers.
Tom is apparently in Europe holidaying with his new babe
Super Model Gisele
Bundchen. Now that's cool, the Super Bowl man now goes out with the Super Model!
Way to go Tom! You can see interviews that I have done with Tom the Champion
several MYKwebTV shows including Pro Bowl 2002, Super Bowl XXXVIII and Super

Report! A.J. Feeley, Chang in as Eagles QBs, Garcia possibly out. Also,
condolences to the family of Broncos deceased third-string RB Damien
Nash. Goodbye to Dick Hoak, Jack Steadman and Fred Biletnikoff, Sr.!"
Moose Salzer
Three stallwart NFL
Administrators, Coaches, Jack Steadman, Fred Biletnikoff, Sr.,and Dick
Hoak have all retired. Here is their stories;
1) Jack Steadman, 73, spent the first 47 years of the Kansas City
Chiefs/Dallas Texans history in the AFL-NFL. During Kansas City's two
Super Bowl runs (Super Bowl I & SB IV), Steadman was the Chiefs General
Manager, working with NFL Hall-of-Fame Coach Hank Stram. Steadman held
various positions in the Chiefs front office the last 47 years and was
never demoted. Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt, who was the main driving force
behind the American Football League (1960-69), died last October at age
74. Steadman was his first hire.
2) Fred Biletnikoff, Sr., 64 was an NFL Hall-of-Fame WR for the Oakland
Raiders from 1965 through 1978. He played his last Pro season in
1979 with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. He
was last with the Raiders during the 2006 season as WR Coach. He is the
father of Af2 longtime H.Coach Fred Biletnikoff, Jr., of the Central
Valley Coyotes. Biletnikoff was the only other Raider other than
Managing General Partner Alvin Davis who was with the team for all five
of their Super Bowls (3-2 record).
3) Dick Hoak was the
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Coach the last 35 years, an NFL record for
position Coaches and was under H.Coaches Bill Cowher and Chuck Noll.
For ten years before that he was a Pittsburgh Steeler RB. He spent all
45 NFL years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, second only to George 'Papa
Bear' Halas, of the Chicago Bears in League history.
Congratulations to
these three outstanding men who personified the 'Pro', in Professional
Football. They exemplified the best of the NFL and class for a long
time.
Now on to the not so
good news. We would like to extend our sincerest Condolences to the
family of the Broncos RB, recently deceased Damien Nash. Nash died
Saturday in his native Saint Louis Missouri of heart failure. He was
only 24. Nash, playing mostly garbage time last year (either the
Broncos were way up or way down, rushed for 98 yards on 24 carries.
Nash was running full court in a charity basketball game named after
his brother Darris, who received a heart
transplant last month.
Colour him gone Dept.,
times two; First Jeff Garica, who's contract may not be picked up at
the end of this month, in a few days as the Philadelphia Eagles picked
up the other backup QBs contracts, A.J. Feeley until 2010.
Third-stringer Timmy Chang will be optioned for a second year to NFL
Europa, with the Rhein Fire [see below]. Feeley passed for a career
high 321 yards and tied a career record with 3 TDs in the season ending
win over slumping Atlanta (more on them and their personnel moves in a
minute!). Feeley will be 29 this year. Garcia will be 38 before the end
of this season. Garica's option would have cost the Eagles $1.2/mil.
and together, by spreading Feeley's deal out to 2010 and Chang together
will only cost the Eagles $755,000 against the salary cap for 2007-08.
Feeley
is 6-1 in two stints for the Eagles and Garcia did go 4-2 during the
2006 season covering for injury-prone Donovan McNabb. Feeley left for
two years and started seven games for the Miami Dolphins (3-4) and one
for San Diego (0-1) in the last two years, before returing to
Philadelphia in a trade two days before the 2006 season opened. Garcia,
though no fault of his own failed to get the Eagles out of the first
round of the playoffs, in 2007, as they fell at New Orleans. In the
last three years, Garcia has played for the Eagles, Detroit Lions and
Cleveland, after spending the first 10 years of his career in the Pros
with the Calgary (CFL) Stampeders and the San Francisco 49ers. Now, on
to the Falcons...
University of Virginia
graduate Pat Kerney, DE from New Jersey played out his option with the
Atlanta Falcons in a move that surprised nobody. Kerney has been like a
bear with a bad tooth since the Falcons parted ways with ex-H.Coach Jim
L. Mora (26-23) in late December. Expect the Seahawks, who now Mora,
the Junior as Assistant H.Coach/Defencive Backs Coach to pick him up,
if they can fit him under the salary cap. Kerney is one of a growing
number of Falcons and ex-Falcons that can no longer have any confidence
in slumping Michael Vick who got arrested again this offseason. Also;
expect the 'other shoe' to drop, as fellow ex-Virginia star, QB Matt
Schaub is also set to leave Atlanta since they won't give him a fair
shot at replacing Vick. Schaub, 6'5", 237 lbs., is being coveted by
seven other NFL teams, including Green Bay and Buffalo.
The Detroit Lions (NFL)
have resigned OG Blaine Saipaia, from the Big Island (HI) to a new two
year contract, in one of the wisest moves the Lions have made since
resigning WR/S Mike Furrey one month ago. Saipaia is the second kanaka on
the Lions starting OL along with Moloka'i's Dominic Railoa." Moose

Hall-of-Fame 2006 Class rated!" Moose Salzer
Hall-of-Fame
Class of 2007; The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Gene Hickerson, Cleveland Browns, 1958-73. Starter on Browns 1964
Championship team. Retired after nine Pro Bowl seasons and 7 All-Pro
selections. Retired as the Alltime Leader in Games played as a starting
Offencive Lineman.
Bruce Matthews,
Houston/Tennessee Oilers, Tennessee Titans, 1983-2001. Offencive
Lineman. Tied NFL record with 14 straight Pro Bowl appearances (with
Defencive Lineman Merlin Olson) Played all five Offencive Line
positions. Played in 1999-00 season Super Bowl with Titans.
Roger Wehrli, Saint
Louis Cardinals CB. Retired with most games started by an NFL CB.
Missed the final 8 games of the '82 season with broken arm after
tackling Washington's John Riggins. [Note: Oaklans' Willie Brown, 17-
yr., vet set all-time Pro Football mark of CB starts, breaking CFL/WFL's
Dick Thornton, but Brown's career started in the AFL in 1961]. Named,
along with Oakland's Brown best CBs of the '70's. An overdue pick.
Charlie Sanders,
Detroit Lions, TE. Retired with more games started as TE than ever Mike
Ditka and John Mackey. Played ten straight years and never missed a
game at TE. All-Pro five times. Only 336 catches in NFL career and ten
in 1977. Uncertain QB situation in Detroit (20 different QBs over his
career) lead to slight numbers, but a very good choice, also like
Wehrli, overdue.
Thurman Thomas Buffalo
Bills, RB, 10 years. 12,000+ yards in Bills career and good pass
catcher. Mediocre blocker and poor fumbles record (Super
Bowl dubious record 8) helped crush the Bills in Super Bowls. Laughed
about Super Bowl fumbles as if losing four straight Super Bowls was
nothing. Not well liked by most of his peers for non-chalant attitude (CFL
comparison would be Fumbling Leon McQuay, Toronto, '71)
Michael Irvin, Dallas,
10-yr. WR. Must be 100 more deserving players than this on again / off
again joke! Had only five seasons with 1,000 yds., or more in catches.
Has less catches than current Super Bowl WR Ricky Proehl and not as
deserving as Art Monk! Monk, who got screwed again, had 900 catches, 0
drops and played in four Super Bowl instead of Irvin's three.
Inconsistent and not a team player. Emmitt Smith, Jay Novacek and Moose
Johnston more deserving than he and Troy Aikman. Who got screwed again:
Steve Tasker, Buffalo
Bills / Houston Oilers. Simply put, the greatest player ever at his
position: ST/r-gunner. More tackles than any player in Pro Football
history on Special Teams. Played behind Andre Reed (Bills WR who also
missed the cut) at WR and Thomas (see 'Fumbles' Thomas above) at RB.
Better than either of them! Averaged an NFL record 6.5 yds., per carry
and Team high 20.6 yds., per catch. Scored 6 TDs receiving (10 total in
his career). Averaged 12.5 yds., per punt return, second in NFL history
to Billy 'White Shoes' Johnson (Houston Oilers / Atlanta - NFL /
Montreal-CFL). See Hall-of-Fame Coach Marv Levy's fine book, 'Where
Else Would You Rather Be' for more on sideline Super Bowl reporter
Tasker.
Art Monk, Washington,
Philadelphia, New York Jets WR. Best hands ever. Zero drops in his
career. Could play any three OE positions in Washington one-back
Offence. Once filled in as starter for Don Warren for 14 games
while regular TE was injured. Could play Flanker or 'X' receiver.
Played in Four Super Bowls, winning three. Broke some of Larry Csonka's
rushing marks at Syracuse in NCAAs. 900 catches in NFL career even
though not always main target.
Joe Jacoby, Russ Grimm,
Mark May, OLm, Washington (May also played for Arizona and San Diego).
All three of these guys were vital cogs in Washington machine that
rolled to four Super Bowls in ten years, though two were strike-
shortened year SBs.
Gary Zimmerman, Denver,
Minnesota, Los Angeles Express (USFL). Played on three Super Bowl
Denver teams. Like Matthews, above, played all five Offencive Line
positions. Will make it soon. I have no beef with the choices of
Hickerson and Matthews instead of Jacoby, Grimm, Zimmerman and May. Now
the worst snub of all:
Paul Tagliabue, 65,
16.5 year Commissioner. Best Commissioner NFL ever had, or maybe will
have. For jokes like Irvin (off field troublemaker) or Thomas (Mr.
Fumble away four Super Bowls, then laugh about it - was he paid off?!)
to make it and Mr. Tagliabue, Grimm, Monk, Tasker, Reed, Zimmerman,
Jacoby, and May to get snubbed, is not the right way to start off the 'Goodell
Era' right!" Moose

"From my 1st ever
Super Bowl Media Day. The Raiders Media Day Super Bowl XXVII in San
Diego. Left to right: WR star

I'm tipping the Colts to win the Super Bowl!
I got to go
for the Colts in today's Sundays Super Bowl
by about 3 TD's, 21 points. I know Defenses can win Championships but I
believe any of the top four AFC teams would be able to defeat the Bears
in today's Super Bowl. Yes I am a AFC guy, many of my favorite teams
coming from the AFC. Lots of talk this week naturally about the
Quarterbacks. NFL is a team game but for good or bad the Quarterbacks
seem to get the majority of the attention. I know the QB is the key
guys but come on it's a team game. That's one thing that annoys me the
QB getting so much attention. The TV shows even go as far as to say an
example "Peyton Manning and the Colts vs Tom Brady and the New England
Patriots" Why not just "It's the Colts vs the Patriots." I know its the
"Colts vs the Bears" in the Super Bowl but I believe the AFC
Championship will be the best game of the playoffs as the Colts hammer
the Bears later today.
I've followed the Colts quite closely over the past 9 years. I remember
getting here in Canada in March 98 just after watching my number 1 team
the Denver Broncos defeating the Green Bay Packers with Aussie Bird
Alison in the Grand Caymans. What a great win that was. Well not long
after that the Colts drafted Peyton Manning number 1 and the Chargers
drafted Ryan Leaf number 2. Ryan was as many of us know one of the
biggest busts in NFL history while Peyton has been unbelievable in
regular season play ever since he started. In 98 I remember driving to
a sports bar on a Sunday in BC Canada and watching Peyton play. Even
though the Colts only won a few games that year I said to myself this
guy looks very good in his 1st year. The next year I was lucky enough
to get Media at the NFL Pro Bowl and yep Peyton was there in his 2nd
year as a NFLer. That was the start of a great career that I believe
will be highlighted later on today when he leads the Colts to a win.
Maybe I contradicted myself a bit here by saying how the QB's get most
of the attention and then writing that but hey I got to write about
what people want to read.
Marvin Harrison the Champ
Colts WR. My new part time boss at the "sort of Canadian Army" here in
Calgary calls me Rodney. Waider man is a huge NFL and Raiders fan. One
day as he was teaching me to drive the "sort of Army truck" I was
telling him about my NFL Media experiences at Super Bowls, Pro Bowls
etc. Well from that day on Waider man could only remember me as "Rodney
Harrison" the Champ Patriots defender seeing my name is "Myk Aussie
Harrison". This week Waider man says to me "Hey Rodney, what is your
real 1st name." I said "Rodney is good, he's a great player or what
about Marvin, he is good as well." So then we agreed that Marvin
Harrison has been a unbelievable Wide Receiver for the Colts for many
years. Marvin was also at some of the Pro Bowls that I was at and thus
I tried to imagine and dreamt what it would be like running around as a
NFL Pro Bowler with Harrison on my back. The Colts have many great
players on Offence and if their Defence can continue their excellent
late season and playoff form the Colts should win.
The Chicago Bears. To be
honest I haven't followed them much at all the past 9 years as they
were very average up until 2 or 3 years ago.
I have met and
interviewed one of their best WR's Muhsin Mohammad at the Carolina
Panthers Super Bowl XXXVIII Media Day and thus I highlighted this TV
show this week on my "Best of Super Bowls MYKwebTV"

Also at Super Bowl XXVIII in Houston it was rumored that Bears Star
Linebacker Brian Urlacher was test driving Paris Hilton in her daddy's
new massive Hilton Hotel. He was
apparently wanting to find out if she was as good as she appeared to be
in her much watched sex video. That would be a kind of a buzz getting
to go to the #1 suite for free with the owners daughter. The new Hilton
was right next to the Super Bowl Media Centre and thus I saw many stars
at the lounges and bars.
When I chatted with the beautiful Cwoa Jessica Simpson on the streets
of Vancouver in 05 her huge body guard was wearing a Chicago Bears
jersey. Was I dreaming that I had already met this beautiful Cwoc
species before at the Pro Bowl 1/2 time show
The Bears QB Rex Grossman
has copped a lot from the media this week and probably deservedly so. I
wished Brian Griese the former Bronco was the Bears number 1 QB this
year for the Bears but that wasn't to be. Crazier things have happened
in Super Bowls and maybe Rex is not "Gross" today but he is as
Melbourne Australia guys like to say he is "Grouse" meaning great.
Maybe also Lovie Smith the Bears coach puts in Brian Griese if Rex is
having a shocker. So that's the Bears stories I have, not too many.
I think by just before
3/4 time I'll be chatting to more Cwoc's than watching the Super Bowl
here in a Sports Bar in Calgary as it will then be a blow out. Things
are going well here in Calgary with several Media opportunities and
thus at the very last minute I didn't book my flight to Miami for the
week or longer to join my Winnipeg and Super bowl XXXIX mate Darryl on
the beach and at parties like we did in Jacksonville

Hey, I could very easily
be wrong on this and in a way I hope it is a close game. Yep, I guessed it
Moose went against the Colts lead by the Champ QB Peyton Manning. Peyton
could win 3 Super Bowl rings and Moose still wouldn't say he is a great
QB. I hope that you enjoy the NFL Super Bowl wherever you are. I know I
will be!

NFL/Black History - Pro Football Month - Black Coaches and QBs, Let's
tell the whole Story!" Moose Salzer, MYKwebTV, Virginia Pilot
Norfolk Newspaper
Recently the NFL went
on a rampage of trying to virtually break their arms patting themselves
on the back on how 'progressive' they are (so to speak), whatever
'progressive' means in their "Orwellian" twilight speak. We all know
that Super Bowl XLI has two black American Coaches. We are told and
rightly so, that Chicago's Willie Thrower was the NFL's first black QB
(1953). Not so fast! In 2004, the NFL Hall-of-Fame had one it's
more mundane classes into admission. Sure, Dan Marino (career 17-yr.
Miami QB) & John Elway (career 16-yr. Denver QB) were great choices.
But Friedrich D. (Fritz) Pollard (half german/half black from Chicago's
south side) was long overdue for inclusion into the Canton, OH, NFL
Hall. The fourth choice (making it the smallest NFL Hall class ever)
Benny Friedman was a joke. A 5-yr. short timer merely put into the Hall
on the old-timers ballot because in his five yrs. (Get this!) he was
the first NFL passer to throw 20 TDs in a season. Big deal. There were
passers in the CFL in the 20's and before that threw 25-30 TDs!
Friedman, from Columbia University only played five years! Then he left
to become a lawyer. I hear Commissioner Paul Tagliabue was NOT for it.
He wanted some more deserving players to go in first. I guess you could
say there were four QBs that went in, that yr. ('04), really History
records that Pollard was the League's first 'black' QB - and Coach of
the old Akron Pros, Canton Bulldogs and lead both of those clubs in the
early 1920's NFL titles, which then was decided on who had the best
regular season record. While the CFL had been having Grey Cups since
1909, the NFL didn't have it's first playoff game until 1932. And
didn't have a Championship until 1933. Both won by the Bears.
If the Bears win
tomorrow, which I fully expect - easily, they'll be second in NFL
history behind Green Bay (the Packers have 13 NFL Championships), with
10 Championships. But back to Thrower. What the NFL'r's are NOT telling
us is that he first played QB in Toronto in the CFL (er, ah, CFC then)
before the Bears. Also, here's some more black Coach-QB's history that
has probably been castigated down the Orwellian memory hole; Since
Pollard, and before Art T. Shell started his first reign as Los Angeles
Raiders (later Oakland) Coach, there was Willie Wood, the ex-Super Bowl
Green Bay Packer DB, who Coached the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL after
Leo Cahill was jettisoned back in 1974. Also in 1974-'75 the WFL's
Philadelphia Bell were coached by Ron Waller. Among black QBs of
note, in 1972 Purdue University's Hamilton Tiger-Cat rookie Chuck Ealey
became the first black QB to win a Pro Football Championship as he lead
the '72 Tiger-Cats to a 13-10 win over Ron Lancaster's Saskatchewan
Roughriders, a full 15 years before Washington's Doug Williams won a
strike-shortened yr. Super Bowl for the Redskins! Grambling's James
Harris was a draft pick of and played QB for the AFL's Bills, the year
after QB/WR Marlin Briscoe played pivot for the Denver Broncos in 1968.
Joe Gilliam actually took two snaps (kneel downs) in a Super Bowl 13
years before Williams started his Super Bowl for Washington that he
won. There have been 10 black QBs on Super Bowl rosters to date.
Black Coaches in Pro
Football Championship games: History records (and I was there!) that in
2002 the San Jose Sabercats beat the Arizona Rattlers in ArenaBowl XVI
in CA. Darren Arbet's San Jose team won a second ArenaBowl in 2004.
This was the same year that William & Mary's Mike 'Pinball' Clemons won
the 92nd Grey Cup as the first black North American Coach of an outdoor
Pro Football team. In June 2006, the Frankfurt Galaxy's Mike
Jones became the first black Coach to the NFL 'AAA' Europe (now Europa)
Bowl Championship. So to sum it up, what Lovell Smith and Anthony Dungy
have accomplished, while fine, is a day late and a dollar short on the
historical calendar for "firsts". Let's not let the memory of Pollard,
Wood, Gilliam, Ealey, Waller, Arbet, Clemons or Jones go into the
briarpatch - or down the memory hole. These men set firsts that should
be remembered - whether or not they Coached / played in the NFL." Moose

Hall of Fame Finalists, who I think it should be, for what
it's worth:
1) Art Monk, Washington, N.Y. Jets, Philadelphia, OE. 900 catches, no
drops in an astonishing 16 year career. Played on four* Washington Super
Bowl teams (One real winner and two Strike-shortened year finishers).
Should have been in the last five years. Peter (Blimp) Queen and others
can't stand him because they can't put in a box on abilities. He played
X, Y, Z receiver positions in Washington's mainly one back sets. Best
hands in Pro Football history.
2) Russ Grimm, Washington. 11 year starting OLm. Six Pro
Bowls. Made All-NFL team, first or second team seven times. Could play
OG/Center/KS. Played on
Special Teams here and there as well.
3) Recently Retired Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, 64.
Tagliabue, a relative unknown from the front office when Fascist Pete
Rozelle, one of the most
hated men in Pro Sports lost his spot in 1989. Rozelle's NFL was in
serious decline with two strike short end years (1982, 1987) and
attendance severely dropping. Tagliabue offered friendship to other Pro
League like the older CFL and then new Ar.FL. Rozelle's insane war v.
upstart USFL was his downfall. Tagliabue, a former lawyer negotiated
the last very important labor agreement which will keep the two sides
away from each others throats until 2012, the year of the 100th Grey
Cup. Tried in vain to keep NFL Europe from becoming and all-German
League, resigned in disgust last August, though he left saying all the
right things. Would have rather seen C. Dave Baker take over as
Commissioner but lost out to the Roger Goodell faction lead by Buffalo
owner Ralph ("I live in the bad old days") Wilson. The best
Commissioner in NFL history. 4)Bob Kuechenberg, OLm, Miami, Chicago.
Best to ever play the left guard position. Helped lead Miami to 10
playoffs in 11 years, three Super Bowl appearances and two wins.
Starter on the greatest team of all time, the 1972 Dolphins. He and
already in the Hall-of-Fame Larry Little, were lead blockers for Larry
Csonka, the greatest FB in Pro Football history. Coach Shula's favorite
player.
5) Gary Zimmerman, Denver, Minnesota, Los Angeles
Express(USFL), OLm. Denver QB John Elway says he was the best that ever
blocked for him. Helped the Broncos win two Super Bowls at the end of
Elway's career. Best technique, mechanics OLm maybe ever. Started his
career in the rival USFL blocking for future NFL Hall-of-Famer, lefty
QB Steve Young. Like Monk, should have been in the NFL Canton, OH Hall
several years ago.
6) Steve Tasker, 5'9", 183 lbs., Houston Oilers, Buffalo
Bills, ST'r-gunner/RB/WR/PR. Highest number of Special Teams tackles in
Pro Football history. Averaged 6.5 yards per carry as reserve RB.
Averaged 20.6 yards per catch as reserve WR. 26 catches for 6 TDs,
Averaged 12 yards per punt return, second highest in NFL history. Only
ST star to be named Pro Bowl MVP. Pro Bowl started naming a Conference
Special Teams starter because of his exploits. Helped lead the Bills as
the only team in NFL history to four straight Super Bowls. Coach Marv
Levy in his book, "Where Else Would You Be", said the hardest Coaching
decision he ever had to make was to keep Tasker out of his starting
lineup on Offence because he was too valuable on Special Teams.
Greatest Special Teams player in Pro Football history. Had 4.4 speed in
the forty. Played one year of basketball at Kansas as reserve point
guard (he could dunk a basketball behind his head with both hands),
before transferring to Northwestern University to concentrate on
Football." Moose

I think it will be Peyton vs Payton in the Super Bowl!
What a great day it should be today watching the AFC and NFC
Championship games.
AFC, Colts vs Patriots.
Wow, two of my favorite teams the Patriots and the Colts will go at
it again. All the talk this has been whether star Colts QB Peyton
Manning can lead his very successful Colts team to the Super Bowl. I
believe he can. I very rarely ever go against the Patriots but I am
this week. The Patriots are not as good this year but have again
somewhat amazingly got to the AFC Championship. What a great effort
especially as Tom Brady lost his regular receivers this year.
NFC. Saints vs Bears.
I firmly believe the New Orleans Saints will win this game in Chicago
and thus it will be the Saints lead by 1st year coach Sean Peyton vs
the Colts lead by Champ QB Peyton Manning at QB and coach Tony Dungy in
the Super Bowl. What a exciting team the Saints are.
I went 4-0 in last weeks Playoffs. I simply had to call Moose late last
Sunday night to rub it in as I know I kicked his butt in last weeks
tips. Of course Moose again this week has gone against Peyton and the
Colts. Read below for Moose's detailed previews of the Championship
games.
Me and Tom! Tom Brady on MYKwebTV!
I may be wrong but I don't think Tom Brady the Champ will be
wearing his 4th Super Bowl ring in 07.
I was lucky enough to be at Tom's 1st ever interview after his 1st ever
Super Bowl win, well other than straight after the game. I was at the
practice session at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii and Tom arrived. About 10 of
us Media guys rushed over to him and the questions started. I had the
camera out and was part of this great interview. I often tell people
here in Canada about this as Tom was saying "Yeh I've been on the plane
for like 30 hours, playing cards, drinking and no sleep but I made it
here."
I then was lucky enough to be at the Super Bowl XXXVII MVP Press
Conference. It was sponsored by Cadillac in the Huge Media Centre
during Super Bowl week in San Diego. Tom was one of the MVP's there
along with Emmitt Smith and Phil Simms. After the speeches had finished
I spoke to Tom briefly, he remembered me from Pro Bowl the year before.
I gave him my business card that he gladly accepted.
Houston and Jacksonville Super Bowls. I again got to film and briefly
say hi to Tom at the Patriots Media Days in Houston for Super Bowl
XXXVIII and again in Jacksonville for Super Bowl XXXIX. Trying to get a
question to Tom on these days at the Media Day was worse than trying to
get something to eat at a Dogs breakfast. Literally 100's of media
trying to ask Tom a question often all at once.
So there you go, me and Tom. What a Champ he is!
Spergon Wynn or Tom
Brady? I
thought this was kind of a funny/interesting story. Listening to Jim
Rome on Friday, he had the author on his show of a new Tom Brady book,
"Moving the Chains". The author was saying how Tom was not drafted on
the 1st day and then waiting at home on the 2nd day of the draft with
his sister he was getting annoyed. He then lost it when Spergon Wynn
was drafted before him. Apparently he went outside of his house &
started smashing things. Then the Patriots called him. If you are like
me and also love the CFL you will know who Spergon Wynn is. Spergon has
played for the BC Lions, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and in 06 with the
Toronto Argonauts with "some" success. I know I'll be buying this new
book soon.

Week 20 Update! Conference Playoffs Preview, Picks!" Moose Salzer to
MYKwebTV, exclusive
Week 19 Game Balls:
1) Sean Payton, Coach, New Orlean Saints.
2) Drew Brees, QB, New Orlean Saints.
3) Steve Gostowski, K, New England
4) Robbie Gould, K, Chicago
5) LaDainain Tomlinson, RB, San Diego
Honourable Mention, Scott Fujita, LB, New Orlean Saints
Coaching Update: Expect
the Dolphins of Super Bowl City, Miami to pick Jim L. Mora (the
younger) over Mike Shula, Ron Rivera and Art Shell as their next
H.Coach. Rivera took a quick trip to Fish-land to interview, which
won't do much good for Da Beahs 'D', but exspect him to be 'seasoned' a
bit longer.
AFC Championship:
Sunday, New England Patriots (14-4-0) at Indianapolis Colts (14-4-0).
Synopsis: Gone are the AFC's two top seeds; San Diego with it's 14-3-0
mark and the Baltimore Ravens with their 13-4-0 record. Baltimore was
done in by one of the Conferences worst alltime (started as the
American Football LEAGUE in 1960) playoff meltdowns at home.
The old Baltimore
Stallions (CFL) and Colts (NFL/CFL) WERE NEVER beaten by an INFERIOR
team @ home in the playoffs before. Eli Manning's twin, Peyton has
strung together two of the worst AFC playoff QBing performances in club
history (Tracy Ham and Johnny Unitas never played that bad in the
playoffs for either Colts teams!), but somehow the Indy Colts have hung
in there and beaten two seemingly Offencively Challenged teams in the
Ravens and the K.C. Chiefs. The Patriots used a gut wrenching Special
Teams and Defencive performances to eek back into their game at Me &
Myk's favorite Super Bowl Stadium, Quaalcom, to get by the Hardluck San
Diego Chargers and Hardluck Coach Martin Edward Schottenheimer (former
Pittsburgh/Buffalo and BOSTON Patriots LB, # 54). Marty now sits at
5-13 in the playoffs, but what lost the Bolts the game was the choking
(for the second time in three years) of K Nick Kaeding, who missed his
second kick in three years that cost the 'Super Chargers' the game. In
2005 he blew a gimme Kick v. the New York Football Jets. The Bolts
spent a #4 pick on Kaeding, who was first looked upon as a Punting
replacement for Myk's Aussie-mate, Darren Bennett (Melbourne D's,
1983-88).
The Patriots also spent a number #4 pick on a K this year, and Steve
Gostowski came through with flying colours v. the Bolts. Adam Vinatieri
who? The Pats will reacquaint themselves with Mr. V this weekend.
Question: Can Defencive Colts Coordinator Ron Meeks 'D' pull off a
third straight upset? Remember, they aren't getting much help from
Peyton and Co.; Manning, who threw 30TDs in the regular season has
exactly one in two playoff games this year, so far and only threw 9
INTs in the regular season; he has 5 in two playoff games. Manning has
been a $98/mil US bust in the playoffs and still under .500 in his
career, despite Bob Sanders, Rob Morris, Vinatieri, Hunter Smith,
Dwight Freeney, Coach Tony Dungy, WR Marvin Harrison, already one of
the top five WRs in Pro Football history! I see a blowout coming this
weekend in the AFC Championship this weekend. The Patriots got by MVP
LaDainian Tomlinson and the Bolts because of mistakes last weekend, and
they WILL NOT win the Super Bowl, after they dispose of the Colts.
Moose's Pick: New England 22, Indianapolis 8.
NFC Championship Preview: New Orlean Saints (12-6-0) at Da Chicago
Beahs (12-6-0), Soldiers Field, Sunday. What Happened last week in the NFC Playoffs; Let's face facts - the NFC is the stronger Conference
this year. And the winner of this game SHOULD be in line to win the
Super Bowl. What a turnaround for the formerly hard luck Saints this
year. Former Arena League and NFL replacement QB Sean Payton,
Should-Be-Rookie-of-the-Year Reggie Bush, Rejuvenated RB Duece Staley
and LB Scott Fujita have been sensational all season. The Bears,
despite QB Rex(He's just) GROSS, man, efforts to lose them the game v.
Seattle (who hasn't won a road playoff game since Dave Krieg almost got
them in the Super Bowl back in '83), scraped by with a 'replacement' K,
who was pounding nails at Construction sites a year. Truth be told,
Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren needs to stop worrying about his
evangelizing wife and daughter and get his head back in the game! He
Coached the absolute worst game of his Pro H.Coaching life in watering
down the lineup against a very overrated and beatable Bears team.
The Bears are ready for a big beatdown this week and I wouldn't be
surprised to see ex-Charger Drew Brees pass for 400 yards (especially
if ex-Shreveport Pirate/Memphis Mad Dog WR Joltin' Joe (Cellphone) Horn
is back in the lineup thie week! The Saints, in their 40th year, with a
Rookie H.Coach (aged 41!), have their best squad in team history. Their
blueprint will be copied for years. Ex-Ar.FL QBs should be hot Coaching
commodities (Another ArenaBowl QB Marty Mornhingweg has also been a
H.Coach before as well) in the near future. Seriously, as very good aas
the Bears 'D' is, they really don't have much chance v. the Saints. If
Reggie Bush and Duece
Staley run through the Bears the way they did in the fourth quarter
against Red Garcia and Co (Philly) last week, it'll be a rout. The
Saints will go Marchin' In - and all the way to their First Super
Title. New Orlean 28, Chicago 13.

Moose's week 2 of the Playoffs tips and report.
Mine are in Green"
AFC: Indianapolis Colts (11-6-0) at Baltimore Ravens (13-3-0).
Just think, when the Ravens entered the League, in 1996, they almost
bit the bait to change names with 'Indy' ("please don't call them
Colts" - Johnny Unitas). But the Colts wanted $25 million for the name.
Then owner Art Modell said no thanks, Ravens will be just fine.
Otherwise this seemingly exciting playoff game could have been sub
named the 'Name change' Bowl (I'd prefer Cup!) No matter. Now we see
which of the Peyton Manning brothers will show up!
The one who stunk up the joint with the worst first quarter of NFL
playoff
quarterbacking
ever. Or the guy who almost single-handedly took the
'asleep-at-the-
wheel-Chiefs' out in the second half.
The Colts have still only won 3 of their last seven games, the Ravens,
with the NFL's best Defence, by far in 2006-07, who have won nine of
their last ten. Steve McNair has basically kicked Peyton Manning's butt
up and down the field in his career and with an explosive attack that
is the team's best since their 2000-01 Super Bowl XXXV winning season,
I have take the Ravens, big time, at home.
My Pick: Baltimore
30 over Indianapolis 23. "I'm
about to get off of here and watch this game that I'm looking forward
to immensely. I believe the Super Bowl Champ's will be a AFC team and
it could well be the Colts or the Ravens. This should be a rippa of a
game. I've thought all week about this and I'm going to go with the
Colts. For some reason I think it could be the year of the Colts
and they finally get to the Super Bowl. Hey I could easily be wrong on
this. I'd also like to see Peyten play great and then Moose may finally
pay the respect that he should to this great Quarterback.
New England (13-4-0) at San Diego
(14-2-0).
Where do we begin? With Marty Schottenheimer's career 5-12 playoff
mark? Well, why be negative? Yes, even though he's up against the best
Defencive mind in the NFL, Marty-ball, which was readjusted in San
Diego, after his Coaching stints in Washington, Kansas City, Cleveland.
When he was in Brown-town, John Elway used to kick his butt. When in
Kansas City, Elway deep-sixed him again. And then came a 'comeback
year' in Washington where he was sacked following a miracle 8-8-0
season, by the original 'Real-life-Fantasy-Football', Dan "Coach"
Snyder, who's killing Hall-of-Famer Joe Fibbs career now. Not even Tom
Brady, Vinny, all those good RBs, the best rookie K in the League, and
Billy Belichick will stop Marty from getting to the Super Bowl this
time around.
Not with LaDainian Tomlinson, who just won and deserved M.V.P., Pro
Bowl Special Teamer of the Year-AFC, ST/WR Kasim Osgood, who almost ran
over both Myk and I at the Hula Bowl, Feb. 1st, '03, Red-hot QB Phil
Rivers, who Doug Flutie said in a USA Today article in '04 WOULD BE
THIS GOOD and all those great Defencive Players. It's been a twenty
year wait, Marty. But when the final gun sounds in Miami in early Feb.,
it'll have all been worth it!
My Pick: San Diego 28 over New England 14. "Wow!
What another great game this should be with possibly the Super Bowl
Champs being the Chargers or the Patriots again. I just can't pick
against the Patriots. Both the Chargers and the Patriots are 2
of my very favourite 2nd teams. I still often wear my Sand Diego
Chargers Darren Bennett jersey. Two of my most amazing days ever was

NFC: Philadelphia Eagles (11-6-0) at
New Orlean Saints (10-6-0).
Admit it. You have to love the Saints, some. Even if you aren't
from the Big Easy. Lead by a former Ar.FL ArenaBowl QB, at Coach. With
a guy should be Rookie of the Year (RB-SB-KR, Reggie Bush), a two solid
QBs (Drew Brees, Jamie Martin) a former CFL DE at LB (Terrance Melton,
who also played in the Arena Football League), and an ex-CFL-USA WR,
Joe Horn. Everywhere you look there's talent. And Bill Parcells' number
one pupil, Sean Payton is a-leadin' them! Yes, this time this hard luck
franchise really will 'Come Marchin' In. The Eagles also have their own
Ar.FL connections; K Dave Akers (Carolina) and Ast.H.Coach/Offencive
Coordinator Marty(ball) Mornhingweg, who was the 'other' QB from
ArenaBowl I! It'll be an interesting match up between the Coaching
sides and Philadelphia is even lead by a Grey Cup winning QB in Jeff
(Red as in Calgary) Garcia.
Brian Westbrook had a career high 149 yards rushing through the porous
New York Giants Defence last week. It'll be tougher against the gitty
Saints as N.O.'s D is even better than it's Offence. I may be the only
Sports writer in North America who picked the Saints to not only get in
the playoffs this year but actually make a run. Tough luck Timmy Chang
got axed by the Eagles, because of P/H Dirk Johnson's injury and the
Eagles resigned Koy (or is it 'Koi') Detmer as H. This could be a
problem. Remember what happened to Dallas last week? Mr. Tony Romo's
Place-for-Ribs fumbled that snap and they lost in Seattle by 1. Same
thing happened to the Bengals three weeks ago in Denver which kept the
Bengals out for the playoffs. They sure would have doen better v.
Peyton and the Colts than did the Chiefs.
My Pick: New Orlean Saints 27, Philadelphia 18.
"I'll agree with Moose on this and go
for the Saints. I think whoever wins this game will get to the
Super Bowl and represent the weaker NFC."
Seattle (10-7-0) at Chicago "Da Beahs"
(11-5-0).
The only thing that can PROBABLY stop the Bears from going to their
first Super Bowl since Walt Payton was still about 30 (1986) is a QB
snafu. Get ready for an upset. Unlike the Cowboys, who finished their
season losing four of their final five games, Mike Holmgren's Seahawks
are picking up steam. People keep overlooking this team, but THEY ARE
THE DEFENDING NFC Champions! Brian Griese, son of NFL Legend and three
time Super Bowl QB, Bob, should be the logical choice at QB. But since
taking over this team in 2004 Coach Lovell Smith has gone through Craig
Krenzel, Chad Hutchinson, Jeff George, Kyke Orton (still with the team
as number #3) and always injured (T) Rex Grossman, the boneyest QB
starting in the NFL. He was benched four times in the last five games,
in one situation or another for the winner Griese (career 64% W-L). I
WAS VERY SURPRISED when the Bears signed Brian to a FIVE-YEAR contract
in April THAT HE DIDN'T start for the Da Bears this past season! Plus
on Defence, perennial Pro Bowl'r DLm Tommie Harris is out for the Year.
Hate to do this to Sue Haddox and all those Bear fans out there (hey,
my dad was born in Chicago!), but it'll be.
My Pick Seattle 22 over Chicago 13.
"Ok I feel like tossing a coin on this, which I think will be the
least exciting of the 4 games. Seattle have been a bit disappointing
this year and many of their receivers still seem to have the Seahawks
"dropped passes" bird flu. I would also like to see the former Bronco
Brian Griese at Quarterback. I actually hope the Seahawks win but I'm
thinking the Bears might win seeing it is in Chicago.

week 1 report! Massive amounts of Comedy and Cwoa Cheerleaders based
NFL MYKwebTV!" Myk
From the Bronco's. Members of the Denver Broncos have
offered a reward of up to $100,000
in total for information that leads to the arrest and filing of murder
charges against a suspect or suspects involved in the killing of
Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams.
This reward is being offered through the Crime Stoppers program
operated by the Denver Police Department. The Crime Stoppers telephone
number -- staffed 24 hours a day -- is 720-913-STOP (7867).
The Denver Broncos hope that this additional reward money will result
in the apprehension and conviction of the individuals involved in the
death of Darrent Williams. The Broncos are extremely appreciative of
the ongoing efforts of the Denver Police Department as it continues to
work on the case.

Round 1 of the playoffs! Peyton Manning's big comeback; Garcia's still
got it; Dallas Parcells out coaches himself, may REALLY retire; Pats
roll; Chiefs O falls asleep; Giants need a REAL QB - and Coach!" Moose
Salzer
AFC:
New England 37, New York Jets 16
Indianapolis 23, Kansas City (only?!) 8
AFC Storyline: Peyton
Manning and his paltry 5-8 playoff record really sunk to an all-time
low when the Media darling threw 3 INTs in his first 15 passes (an AFC
record that'll probably never be broken in my lifetime!), two of which
went to his 'old buddy' [New England/New York Jets/Kansas City], LCB Ty
Law. But give Manning (and Coach Tony Dungy) credit; they didn't panick.
In fact, Manning's 30 of 38 passing (mostly short, safe passes) bailed
out the Colts floundering O, and enabled the Colts to go on this week
to play at red-hot Baltimore, where their season will likely end,
dropping Manning to 6-9 in the post season. The Patriots used both Tom
Brady and Vinny Testeverde to finish the New York Jets season at
10-7-0, 37-16.
NFC:
Seattle 21, Dallas 20
Philadelphia 23, New York G-Men 20. Ar.FL K Dave Akers, my buddy from
the Pro Bowl '04, kicks the winner.
NFC Storyline: Take Eli Manning - and Tom "Giggles" Coughlin, New York
- please. Into a back alley somewhere! Even lard-butt Jared Lorenzen
(272 lbs., QB-FB-TE/NG) EVEN GOT A SMIDGE OF PLAYING time, which shows
you why Tiki Barber, from here in Virginia is smart to retire. (My
Picks) will be coming shortly.
Week 18 Game Balls:
1) Tom Brady, QB, New England
2) Jeff Garcia, QB, Philadelphia
3) Brian Westbrook, RB-KR, Philadelphia
4) Tiki Barber, RB, New York Giants
5) Derrick Cotchery, TE/H-B-FB, New York Jets
Honourable Mention: Ty Law, RCB, Kansas City Chiefs, Peyton Manning, QB,
Indianapolis Colts.
Coaching Changes;
Arizona - Dennis Green, fired. No Replacement Yet. Cam Camerson,
Chargers, QB Coach-Offencive Coordinator top choice, thought Hawai'i
June Jones, III has been rumoured as well as others. My reaction. It
took too long. Anybody that'll bench a Legend like Kurtis Eugene
Warner, after two games should be maimed anyway! Atlanta - 45-yr-old
Jim L. Mora (son of USFL Legend/former NFL H.Coach, James Earnest Tabor
Mora [the Elder]) out. Dumb Move. Being replaced by NCAA nobody Bobby
Petrino, who was 41-9 @ Louisville, also 45! Just like changing tires.
Best Quote of the Year, Jim Mora, the Elder in CBS Radio interview:
Called Michaek Vick a 'Coach Killer'. It's true. How many more Coaches
will lose their jobs in "Hotlanta" before somebody realized Vick isn't
a REAL QB? Oakland - Art Shell. Option not picked up by the Team, they
must pay him for 2007 season to NOT Coach the Team. Al Davis has gone
mad! No replacement yet. Pittsburgh. Bill Cowher resigned for family
reasons. A good run. 149 wins, 15 yrs,.
Two Super Bowl appearances and one Win (in the worst Super Bowl ever!
R.I.P. - Darrent
Williams, Denver Broncos.
Twenty-four year old Broncos LCB Williams was killed by a stray bullet
on New Years Eve. The Broncos second round pick in the 2005 NFL draft
(56th player overall chosen), Williams started 15 of sixteen games this
past season for Denver's NFL 3rd best Defence. Williams played on the
side of the secondary with future Hall-of-Famer John Lynch (SS-former
Bucc Super Bowl'r). Darrent starred back home at Wyatt High School in
Fort Worth, TX. His father played for the Fort Worth Ar.FL team in
1994. Darrent lead Wyatt with 30 INTs for 4 TDs during his career. In
College he had 11 INTs for 4 TDs and started 32 of 37 games. Last year
he started Ryno Records in Fort Worth.
The five-foot eight and
a half, 188 pound CB would have been a longtime NFL player, who's best
years were ahead of him. Rest in Peace Darrent Williams (Sept. 27th,
1982-Jan. 1st, 2007)." Moose

hopefully defeat the Seahawks. Below is what I emailed the Calgary Roo's

To the Calgary Kangaroo's guys,
Most off you know about Ben Graham punting for the Jets in this weekend
NFL playoffs. How many of you guys know about another Aussie, Mat McBriar
from Melbourne punting for the Cowboys. He also made the NFL Pro Bowl
this year which is the NFL All Star game in Honolulu. Unreal effort in
his 2nd year in the NFL. I think this is awesome! Darren Bennett and now
Mat and Ben have changed the NFL game by using the Drop Punt very
effectively. I thought this may interest you guys a fair bit. My USA mate
and MYKwebWORLD reporter Moose told me about Mat playing for the Uni of
Hawaii Warriors 4 years ago so we flew from Honolulu the day before the
Pro Bowl to Maui to interview Mat who was playing in the NCAA Hula Bowl.

I'll send Mat a fax
next week wishing him the best at the Pro Bowl and the rest of the
playoffs if Dallas win and will mention from the Calgary Kangaroo's
guys on the fax. All good? I'll be at Rush Hour which is our old pub
the Flying Emu Saturday night from 6-9pm watching the Cowboys vs
Seahawks game if anyone wants a beer and watch the footy. I wonder if
the Seahawks Wide Receivers will again this weekend have the Seahawks

Bronco's Darrent
Williams tragically shot in Denver!
This was very sad news
that I heard on Tuesday morning as I woke up and watched the sports TV.
Bronco's Darrent Williams who has been a excellent defender since
joining the Bronco's was tragically shot while in a limo late on New
Years eve. RIP Darrent! I received this below on Tuesday from the
Bronco's.

First Round NFL Playoff Tips
AFC: [Denver should have been in!]
Kansas City 30, Indianapolis 15
New England 24, New York Jets 22
NFC: [Carolina should have been in!]
Dallas 25, Seattle 21
Philadelphia 31, New York Giants 8
Synopsizes:
AFC:
#6 New York Jets (10-6-0, 2nd AFC East Division) @ #3 New England
Patriots (12-4-0, First AFC East Division). Outlook: What to look for
and Why New England will win!: Tom Brady and Vinny Testeverde v.
Vinny's two-time ex-teammates, the New York Jets, Coached by Coach of
the Year Candidate, Eric Mangigi (some may call him Mangenius, if the
J's can pull off the mighty upset). The recently late James Brown, Soul
Man used to sing, "It's a Man's World." Well it is if you work for Bill
Parcells or Billy Belichick! Eric Mangini did, but he'll have his hands
full of trying to get the young upstart Jets past the Patriots in
Gillette Stadium in Foxboro New England. One of the nicest stories of
2006 was when ex-two-time Jet, ageless Vinny Testeverde (who recently
moved to number two on the Pats depth chart at QB, over Doug Flutie's
buddy Matt Cassel, who backed up that Matt Leinart guy @ USC) BROKE his
own NFL alltime mark by throwing his lone td OF THE SEASON to lead the
Patriots, resting most of it's starters, to the win that finished off
the Tennessee 'Tits', in week 17. Vinny now has at least one TD in 20
straight NFL seasons.
Last year in a Monday night game v. Flutie/Brady/Cassel's Pats, Vinny
broke the record he co-held with the late Johnny Unitas (a REAL Colts
QB) at 18 straight years. The year before he broke Dan Marino and Dave
Krieg's mark of 17. Vinny will sit this week, unless the unthinkable
happens - Tom Terrific gets hurt v. his former Ast. Coach, Mangini's
Jets. The Jets spent the offseason adding some fine parts to the
Machine; Kimo Von Oelhoffen, DLm from Super Bowl Pittsburgh and
currently injured former Super Bowl stud, WR/KR/RB/PR Tim Dwight. If
the Jets lose Chad Pennington this week, it'll fall to either Pat
Ramsey, who got out of the Dan Snyder nuthouse in Washington, District
of Criminals or rook Kellen Clemons. Sorry Eric, it'll be the Pats.
Score: New England 24, New York Jets 22.
In the other AFC First
Round Playoff Game: #8 Kansas City (9-7-0, second in AFC West Division)
at #2 seeded Indianapolis in the RCA Dome [where's Nipper and Chipper?]
(12-4-0, Division Winner). I hate to admit the following but I will use
an Al Michael's phrase here: "Do You Believe In Miracles?". Well yes, I
do. But I don't beleive in Michaels! Nor do I believe in Peyton
Manning, one of the worst alltime NFL Playoff QBs (nor in his paltry
5-8 Playoff record [Is it too late for the Colts to add Tee Martin to
the Playoff roster?]. What it comes down to is: Which Colts team will
show up? The one that lost four games in six down the stretch after a
10-0-0 start? Or the one that looked unbeatable early in the Year? I am
betting poor Classy Coach Tony Dungy will have his eyes opened to the
fact that Manning is just not going to get the job done (but at least
it's NOT Eli Manning!), this year.
As for the late Lamar Hunt's Chiefs (he Co-started the American
Football League in 1960), they are loaded at RB (especially if Priest
Holmes is added to the active roster within 48 hours [not Eddie
Murphy!] of the Sunday game and QB where two-ex-CFL'r's, Trent Green
(Toronto and B.C.) & Casey Printers H/3qb (B.C.) are sandwiched between
ex- NFL Europe magnet Damon Huard (got a Super Bowl ring with New
England their first Super Bowl team, 11 TDs and 1 INT this year when
Green and rook Brodie Croyle were hurt) and Croyle. Four QBs on the
active roster this week for the Chiefs as Green got dinged up again in
week 17 of the NFL campaign. The Chiefs will roll and should rush for
200+ yards against a purous Colts 'D'. It matters not which QB/qbs play
this week for K.C. - The Colts are going down in flames! Prediction:
Kansas City 30, Indianapolis 15
NFC Playoffs: #8
New York G-Men (9-7-0) at # 3 seeded Philadelphia Eagles (10-6-0). Even
without Super Bowl vet QB Donovan McNabb (and mom Wilma's soup!), the
Eagles behind A.J. Feeley, who passed for a career high 321 yards this
week and ran his record to 6-1-0 as an Eagle starter, or Jeff (Red)
Garcia, the ex-CFL star [or even number #3 man Timmy Chang?], the
Eagles should end VA's Tiki Barber, the best RB in the Division's
career on an unfortunately sour note. Eli Manning is without a doubt
the worst starting QB I've seen in the NFL in at least 15 years! [Is it
too late to bring back Bob Gagliano?!] Manning is simply an Af2 type QB
who is scared and has no mechanics to speak of. Depite Mike Strahan's
pass rush, Garcia/Feeley will romp! Prediction: Philadelphia 31, New
York Giants 8 [all Tiki's points!]
# 6 Dallas Cowboys
(9-7-0, second NFL Least) at Defending NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks
(9-7-0, won NFC West Division). Forget about the 'Pokes slump! Forget
about who Cowboy QB Tony Romo's Ribs are dating this week ( Brittany?
Christiana? Hillary Fluff? Paper or Plastic?). It's Bill Parcells and
his 2-1 Super Bowl record v. Mike Homgren's 1-2 SB record. Dallas 25,
Seattle 21.
Game Balls for Week
17!
1) Jon Kitna, QB, Detroit
2) Steve Jackson, FB, Saint Louis Rams
3) Mike Furrey, WR/S, Detroit
4) San Francisco Coach Mike Nolan
5) A.J. Feeley, QB, Philadelphia
Honourable Mention ; Jake (Cajan Snake) Delhomme, QB, Carolina Panthers
for the tying the second best passing day in NFL history; 24 of 26 in
his shootout with New Orlean's Jamie Martin, who passed for one more
yard on 16 of 23 passing himself, which was his alltime high.
Next Week: The 20 Teams that
didn't make the NFL Playoffs - What Went Wrong!
Week 17 Success Stories:
Coach Sean Payton and Detroit WR Mike Furrey: Arena Football Players
dominate Week 17 in the NFL! Quick; what do Detroit WR/S Mike Furrey,
Arizona QB Kurt Warner, New Orlean Coach Sean Payton and ex-Sask DE,
Atlanta S, Terrence Melton, Cincinnati's DB Kevin Kaesviharn and KR/WR
Reggie Swinton, New York Giants K Jay Feeley and new Miami QB Cleo
Lemon have in common? If you guessed they are all graduates of Pro
Hockey-Football (commonly known as the Arena Football League, or Af2
['AAA'], then shoot a three point shot and give your self a free throw
to boot! Don't tell me Hockey-Football doesn't matter or doesn't have
as good a players as the NFL or CFL! It does.
There are a veritable cornucopia of excellent players in the CFL and
NFL that have spent time in the Ar.FL/Af2 Cleo Lemon, who I saw QB the
Memphis Xplorers back in the summer of '03 is the next pivot to keep an
eye on. It's not his fault that the Dull-fins lost there game to
overrated Indy this past week, on that fluke option-pass play to DL/TE-FB
Dan Klecko, son of ex-Colts/Jets DLm, Joe. Lemon played well enough to
have won that game for goofy Nick Saban, who will probably for back to
the ranks of the NCAAs this weekend to Alabama! But the big stories of
the year are Furrey, who started 11 games at Safety for the Rams last
year and Coach Payton. Payton and fellow ArenaBowl I QB Marty
Mornhingweg (who also has been a H.Coach in the League) are proof that
humble beginning are still good beginnings! Furrey caught a team high
98 of Jon Kitna's passes this year for 1,086 yds., and 6 TDs! Take that
Roy Williams!" Moose
