(NFL
Commissioner Roger Goodell’s opening statement) “Before we talk about the spectacular show last night, let me just take
a minute to thank all of you, and most importantly, our host: the people
of Tampa Bay. It was a spectacular week, obviously capped off by a
tremendous game. But we’re thrilled and we’re grateful to everybody
here who did such a spectacular job for us in making sure that we all had
a good week, and our visitors had a great week. I think (it’s) fair to
say that did occur. As far as the game, you all are talking the same way
we are: what an incredible performance by both clubs. The Cardinals
deserve a tremendous amount of credit for playing all the way and
(having) a tremendous season. But it’s the Steelers’ night. It was a
performance for the ages. It was something that I think we’ll all
remember, a back and forth game with some great team performances and
some great individual performances … We’re here to celebrate that.
We’re here to talk to the MVP. Santonio Holmes had just an
extraordinary night. It was really something to marvel at. We’re
thrilled that he’s here, and we’re thrilled that Mike (Tomlin) is
here. They represent everything that’s great in the NFL, and we’re
proud that they’re here. I’d like to bring up Santonio to get his MVP
trophy.”
(Santonio
Holmes’ opening statement) “It’s definitely a pleasure to be here. I’d like to thank my
teammates, and first of all, thank the Lord upstairs for allowing me to
be here and the opportunity he gave me to step out on the field and play
to the best of my ability. I’d definitely like to thank the fans for
their support (and for) being here, my family, my kids, everybody
that’s been there through all the thick and thin, helping (to) provide
the way for me, keeping me humble throughout the whole time I’ve been
going up and down as far as this season. I’m really excited about
getting back to Pittsburgh for this parade so that we can definitely
enjoy it all together. So I’m open for any questions.”
(on
whether he knows Jaguars RB Fred Taylor) “We’re actually second cousins. So I definitely know a lot about
him.”
(on
whether he will meet with Taylor in the near future) “I know he’s probably not going to want to bother me now. A lot’s
going on. But I’ll definitely hear from him within the next couple
days. I’ll definitely get a chance to spend some time with him this
offseason. I know he’s very proud of me right now, coming from where we
came from, the first guy from my high school, from my college, to win MVP
of the Super Bowl. This is truly a blessing.”
(on
what he did last night and whether Hines Ward has talked to him about how
being the MVP of the Super Bowl changed his life) “Last night, I just spent time with my kids. I didn’t not want to be
with the fans at the time, but I think my play on the field and everybody
that witnessed me holding up that trophy, that sticky Lombardi, and being
able to celebrate with everybody at the time, I’m pretty sure I knew
that they appreciated that. But I definitely spent a lot of time with my
kids, made sure they were well taken care of. I put on a movie. They were
very excited about watching Madagascar 2 last night. We definitely spent
a little time together, watched the movie. I really just stayed in and
relaxed a lot. As far as talking to Hines about what’s definitely going
to change about my life, he just told me, ‘Stay humble.’ Things are
going to come for me, (I just need to) be ready to represent my family,
this team, and this whole organization, because everybody behind me has
my back. (He told me,) don’t lose sight of where I came from and
definitely what I’m trying to accomplish for the rest of my life.”
(on
what went wrong on the play before his game-winning touchdown) “It definitely can be thought of as redemption. It was a play that I
should’ve made. Ben (Roethlisberger) put the ball where only I could
catch it. I really took my eyes off of it thinking about keeping my feet
down before I got my hands on the ball and just lost sight of the ball.
But coming back, and having the faith in me and believing that I could be
the one to make that play, he gave me the opportunity in the back of the
end zone and I promised myself this time that I wouldn’t lift those
feet off the ground.”
(on
what he was thinking about the Larry Fitzgerald hype this week) “It was definitely our destiny to win the Super Bowl. I knew that he
was a great player. He’s been doing great things thus far in the
postseason, but I wasn’t worried about him. We have the number-one
defense. We have guys that were definitely going to push forward to stop
him from being the big-play guy that he has been all postseason. My
thoughts, though, on how the game played out: it played exactly how it
was supposed to. Our defense stepped up when they needed to. They gave up
some big plays, but at the same time, when they really needed to clamp
down on that offense, they did just that. (I) focused on what I know how
to do and what my coaches allow me to do. I really wasn’t worried about
anybody else. The Cardinals can’t win the Super Bowl for the Steelers.
I know what I can do for this team, and the coaches and the players
allowed me to just do that.”
(on
his fluctuating performance throughout the year and why he was able to
then come back from that and be the MVP of the Super Bowl) “Having that faith come from my quarterback and hearing him day in and
day out, every Sunday, telling me, ‘Just stick with me no matter what
goes on throughout the game, and we’re going to make plays together.’
Just hearing that from a guy that believes in the third-year guy, and
allowing me to just go out there and play freely. The coaches, they
always have my back 100 percent. Coach T (Tomlin), he’s always been
there for me. We always have side conversations on and off the field.
He’s just been believing in me in being a playmaker for him.
Unfortunately (for the Cardinals), things happened the way we planned it,
you know? My off-the-field goals that I set for myself to win the Super
Bowl and to be a Pro Bowler didn’t (completely) work out in my favor,
but I think that hoisting that sticky Lombardi Trophy works out more in
my favor than anything.”
(on
his off-the-field incident earlier this season) “The next day, I came in to work after that happened, and I sat down
and had a meeting with Coach Tomlin. He told me how he felt, and he told
me that he was going to handle the situation accordingly. At first, I
didn’t want to hear that from my head coach. I was hoping that he just
trusted my word that nothing went wrong, but I see that he put me in a
better situation by handling the situation firsthand, getting the
distractions away from the team, and away from myself, and allowing me to
come back to the team the following week, ready to go. He accepted all of
that.”
(on
naming his game-winning catch) “I haven’t really thought about it. I’ll leave it up to my family
members. They’re definitely going to throw some things out there for me
to think about once I get a chance to settle down and talk to the family
and spend some time with them. I’ll definitely have a name for that
play once it’s all said and done.”
(on
if this win was vindication for him and Ben Roethlisberger) “I think those quick passes early in the game kind of got him in the
flow of the game and allowed him to relax. He knew he didn’t have any
pressure on getting me the ball. We talked all week that if I get
(double) teamed in the game early, I know that he’s going to feel
comfortable playing the in the Super Bowl and (that) is going to allow
him to just go out and play more freely. We all made plays tonight,
myself, Hines Ward and Nate Washington, and we definitely can’t forget
Heath (Miller). With the ability that Ben has to scramble, get open and
escape from guys and throw us the ball, that’s what we do. Having a
6-5, 250-260 pound quarterback, knowing the
strength and play-making ability that he has, we always know that there
is a play to be made, no matter what.”
From Sat Jan 31. Wow! It's the
Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl. They will play the Pittsburgh
Steelers!
I'm hoping that the Cardinals can win the Super Bowl. In the NFC the Arizona Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 32

Baltimore Ravens 23 to 14. I enjoyed watching the NFC game at the

Ben will be the 1st Aussie to ever play in a Super Bowl.
Ben was a great player for the Geelong Cats in the AFL Australian
Football League and then played for the New York Jets before the Cardinals in 08-09.
Ben
Graham has been getting good write ups in Aussie newspapers and on TV. On
the Score TV (a National CDN cable TV network) their NFL analyst Scott
Salisbury a former NFL QB on Friday morning talked extensively about how
Special Teams play especially punting and goal kicking could play a big
role in Sundays Super Bowl. He then talked about Ben Graham's leg
strength and ability to land the football within the 10 yard line being
better than Steelers punter Mitch Berger. This was great to listen to as
punters don't very often get much good press in North America.
Mitch
is a Canadian from Vancouver BC Footy Aussie Rules Footy area. I met
Mitch briefly at a NFL All Star Pro Bowl game in Hawaii in 2001 and the
saw him in Vancouver. A screw punt that he did near the end of the the
NFC Championship game against the Ravens nearly cost the Steelers a win.
It was a terrible, approx 15 metre punt.
Good luck to Ben and the Cardinals who I will be going for in
the Super Bowl.

"NFL Conference
Championship preview, matchups and picks!" Nathan Pohanka
So
here we are, just where we all knew we'd be at this time.
Since we started our speculations way back in August of who
the
elite, Super Bowl worthy clubs would be in 2008, I know, without a doubt,
we true and well educated NFL football fans were
certain we'd be watching an NFC Championship game in the dessert.
For the few of us who hadn't written Arizona in as the
host of this weekend's early match up by the time December rolled around,
a 35-14 home domination by Minnesota
followed by a 47-7 shellacking in Foxboro must undoubtedly have convinced
the rest of us to jump on board the Cardinal
bandwagon and pencil them into the conference title game.
Of course, these losses down the stretch could easily be
attributed to having locked up the West division at an early juncture of
the season, but an 0-5 record on the east coast and a 3-7 record
outside of their own weak division, not to mention a 28th ranked defence,
were all sure signs that they would dominate both
the Falcons and Panthers in successive playoff games.
So honestly, how upside down is the NFL that a team
seemingly
helpless to stop opposing offences and apparently left for dead is in the
favorable position that the Arizona Cardinals find
themselves in right now?
This is a trend that we've been witnessing for the past few years,
as each of the last three Super
Bowl Champions were all active on Wild-Card weekend.
Road teams are 3-5 in this year's playoffs, and bye teams, with
the
exception of Pittsburgh, looked more rusty than rested, and more
mistake-prone than confident last weekend.
I understand
the whole argument that it's better to be hot on the way into the
playoffs and keep riding the momentum rather than have a
spot locked up for a month and have such a large gap between meaningful
games. So
how then does this apply to the Cards?
Arizona fit the bill of a team who wasn't playing good ball, did
have a playoff position locked up for a month, and really had no running
game, no defense, and seemingly no chance.
I can think of nothing to explain their instant turnaround other
than to
credit coach Ken Whisenhunt who has made vast improvements in each of his
two seasons with the Cardinals, and to give
some respect to a veteran QB with significant playoff experience. One must also not forget the defensive unit whose
turnaround in the playoffs is unparalleled.
It is always humbling to know that in every match up, every
season, with every
different team, there is an intangible and unmeasurable set of factors
that contribute to game outcomes, some of which are
impossible to even identify.
This is the case with the 2008 Arizona Cardinals. I've yet to hear a reasonable argument of how
they came to win their last two playoff games, but given the
circumstances, I can't listen to any argument that says they can't
beat Philly tomorrow.
I really think this one could go either way, but I like the Eagles
experience, and I LOVE the way McNabb
is playing right now.
Eagles
30 Cardinals 28.
As
for the late game, pretty much everything points to the Steelers in my
opinion. They won both regular season matchups, they have a healthy Willie
Parker, they have the #1 defense in football, and Big Ben and his O-line
have the offence looking the best it's been all season. That said, the Ravens have not looked much better than they do at
the moment, and Joe Flacco continues to do what he needs to do to help
them win. It will be VERY interesting if the Steelers get a 7 or 10 point
lead as the 4th quarter approaches to see how Flacco responds to the
pressure of playing from behind. I think the Baltimore overmatched Miami with toughness, but they
were beaten in almost all aspects by the Titans. Tennessee wins that one pretty easily if not for two huge fumbles
and too many penalties. I don't picture the Steelers making the same mistakes the Titans
made last week, but I didn't picture the Titans doing it either... Anyhow, I like Pitt to handle them, and win the whole shabang.
Steelers
20 Ravens 10.
Here
are the huge matchups for our pool.
$55 more on the line this week with a chance to get to the big
game! Who
will prevail? Will the cinderella Schicker continue his improbable run with the
12th pick or will "Football" Brown make his second Super Bowl
appearance in as many years?
Will Dougie Clifton have to write Myk Aussie a 'thank you' email
for leaving him a bye team with the 5th pick, or will the Supreme Team
cover their two $30 entry fees for 2009? These are the important questions of the 4th annual Trans-Canada
Football Playoff Pool, and only the next 24 hours will hold the true
answers.

So who picked
Zona by 20? If someone in Vegas
actually bet on the Cards to win by that margin, he is literally a
millionaire right now. That game
has to go down as one of the biggest shockers in NFL playoff history.
It's not just the fact that Arizona won the game, but that it was
utter dominance on both sides of the ball by the red birds.
This defence that I had ranked among the worst 5 clubs in the
league at season's end, has now forced a total of 9 turnovers in two
games and held the #2 and #3 rushing attacks in the NFL to a two-game
total of 135 yards on the ground. Are
you kidding me? This makes the
return of Bob Sanders to a more-than-struggling Colts dee in '06 seem
completely uninspiring. Have you
ever seen Jake Delhomme look more frustrated? Have you ever seen another
human being look more frustrated? What
must have been going through Del-Hommie's head on Saturday night? The fact that the Arizona Cardinals had intercepted him 5 times
must have had him questioning his faith in the power of Buckley's cold
and flu medicine, let alone his own existence.
But
honestly, how happy are you for the Cards and their fans?
I mean, this team and their 60 year absence from the NFC
Championship game make Lions fans look spoiled by comparison.
These guys have been the whipping boys of the NFC for longer than
I've been alive, as is evidenced by the fact that their two playoff wins
here in '08-'09 have doubled their total number of postseason wins in
franchise history. And if you are a slightly less educated fan who is not well aware
of the Cardinals history, let me be the one to tell you that they've been
in existence since the turn of the century... the 20th century that is. Right, they've been around since 1898 when they were the Racine
Normals. But to be fair, the
NFL didn't inaugurate until 1922, and it never held a
playoff/championship game until 1932, so really we can only talk
legitimately about the last 75 years or so.
In the 75 years prior to 2008, the Chicago/St.Louis/Phoenix/Arizona
Cardinals have played in just 7 postseason matches, of which they were
victorious in two. Their last NFL
title was 1947 (the Lions have at least won since my old man's been alive
-- in 1957), and as many of you will recall, their last playoff win (and
ONLY in addition to the '47 championship) was a shocking upset of the
Dallas Cowboys in 1998. I hope this helps to put into perspective for you the magnitude of
this accomplishment for the Cardinals franchise. I will save my predictions for a later email, but for now all I
will say is, win or lose next week, this run by Arizona has
revolutionized the organization and has finally given a former laughing
stock some respect and credibility among the NFL." Nathan Pohanka

"Don't
break the Scifres! Divisional Playoff Preview" Nate
No doubt
about it, Mike Scifres was the standout MVP of wild-card weekend 2008.
There is NO CASE to be made for the
Chargers winning that stellar football match if not for the overwhelmingly
precise punting of the NFL's lone wearer of braces. Constantly pinned deep in their own territory, the Colts, Peyton Manning,
and his MVP award (snicker), were rarely able to find rhythm in the ballgame and
were consistently faced with a very long field. Averaging a whopping 52.7 yards per punt on
Saturday (an NFL playoff record), Scifres used all six of his punts to pin the
Colts inside their own 20-yard line, and a stunning FIVE of those six ended up
inside the 10 (both playoff records as well). Scifres
two most memorable moments included a booming 67-yard bomb, received at 5-yard
line and returned for just 2 yards, as well as a gem that may have saved the
Bolts the game with 2:50 to play in regulation, travelling 52 yards and
conveniently rolling out of bounds at the Colts 1-yard line. I never thought that I would be willing to admit that owning the jersey
of a kicker would be cool, but man, would I ever be proud to rock this dudes
gear! Now if only Scifres can bury a
Steeler punt returner in the ground with a vicious hit this week, then I'd
erect a statue in his honor. Now the real
test will come in frigid Pittsburgh this week with the ball cold and deflated.
Can Scifres take care of business again?
So
we had a couple of premature exits from our postseason pool here in round
one of the playoffs, as the Chargers pulled a mild upset over the Colts,
and the Cards unexpectedly blasted the Falcons.
As has become custom in our pool, we must pay our respects to the
fallen members:
(3)
Myk Aussie's Colts were oh so close to moving on to round two to face the
Steelers, but one legendary punter (and a pretty talented little
speedster) did them in. Not
to mention a pretty solid game by the Charger defense. Myk decided to take a chance and draft Indy with the 3rd overall
pick, and unfortunately for him, it backfired. Myk, however, was obviously well aware of the risk he was taking
by drafting the Colts, and he said it best when he remarked "they
could lose to San Diego this week, but they could also win the Superbowl."
We'll never know if the latter was true, but nevertheless, a
commendable pick for the rookie Trans-Canada participant.
Overall, a very strong year from our lone Aussie, one weekly title
and a 3rd place standing out of 32. Great to have you Myk. Good
luck next season.
(9)
Graham Brand's story is perhaps a touch more tragic than Myk's.
With the 9th pick in the draft, a winless Grahambo was thrilled to
get Atlanta, hoping for big things, but surely a modest $15 partial
re-coup of the $30 entry fee when his Falcons pasted the southward bound
Cardinals in the wild-card round. But
after receiving a motivational phone call from a J.P. Schick of Calgary,
Ken Wisenhunt was successfully able to coach his team to an unexpected
victory over Atlanta, thus leaving Graham disgruntled, penniless, and on
the verge of suicide. Thankfully
Mr. Brand has his very own Pittsburgh Steelers to keep his hopes afloat
as they continue to compete for the hallowed title of Superbowl Champion. On one hand you could berate Graham for his lack of weekly
victories (0) and minimal "top 5 finishes" (1), but does this
not speak to his superb consistency? He never seemed to have a bad week, and to this he can credit his
exceptional 9th place finish. Great year G-G-G-G-uNIT!
(10)
Wade Connors' end of year frustrations were perhaps summed up in his
final email to me when, with the 10th pick in the draft, he disgustingly
selected "the fucking fish". I get the sense Dumpy had his fingers crossed that a more
desirable team might be left on the board at his spot in the draft, but
sadly it was not to be. Wade
climbed as high as 3rd place in the pool this year, but setbacks likely
attributable to hangovers and inspired by misguided bets left Wade in a
respectable but unrewarding 10th. No
weekly titles for the Wadester this year, but something tells me he'll be
back with a vengeance in September '09, if for no other reason than to
embarrass his buddy Goose again. Thanks
for playing Wader.
(11)
Sean Germann was probably a touch disappointed when his 11th choice gave
up a 71-yard TD catch and run to Brian Westbrook to seal the game, but
the Dirty Germann should be given no pity. Although our standings say that Sean lost $30 in this year's pool,
the truth is, he cleaned up at the expense of your overly confident
commissioner. One bet on a weekly
Steelers contest, combined with a 2 to 1 challenge of Germann's ability
to reach the playoffs, and Sean finishes the '08 campaign with a smile. What a little shit. Great
year Germann, I hope your Steelers eat some Scifres grenades this week.
Here

(12) JOHN. P.

Gameday forecast... 34 degrees fahrenheit, snow.
(8) JARRY LAKE (San
Diego Chargers) @ (5) DOUG CLIFTON (Pittsburgh Steelers)
So
there are your thrilling matchups for the best weekend of the NFL season.
You have to love the battle of the Mike's.
It's for so much more than pool winnings and a shot at the bowl,
it's for the much respected "football" nickname. Good luck to both Mikes. I
want to love the Titans but I think that Baltimore-Nessee game is almost
a toss-up. As much as I want
to say the Panthers should roll the Cards, I can't help but think back to
their meeting earlier this year in which Arizona had a commanding
14-point lead in the 3rd quarter before the wheels kind of fell off for
them and they had a big turnover to let Carolina back into it, and
eventually win it. The Eagles
dominated the Giants in New York a month ago, I think they might just be
able to do it again the way their defense is playing.
I should think the Steelers would handle the Chargers, especially
in the cold, but I am never convinced by Pittsburgh.
They have an awesome dee, but are a mess on offense. If Burger can get some protection in the pocket, the Steelers have
a good chance.
It's
interesting to note that all four of our matchups this weekend are exact
rematches of regular season games, except that when the Titans played the
Ravens, the game was in Baltimore, not Tennessee. If these playoff games follow the regular season ones, the Titans,
Panthers, and Steelers will be victorious, and the Giants-Eagles is still
a toss-up as they split their regular season series.
Nate's picks... for
whatever they're worth:
"Mine as
well" Myk
Titans 21 Ravens 13
. "Hmm, tough
to pick. Titans just." Myk
Panthers 34 Cardinals 28.
"Panthers easy
I believe." Myk
Eagles 27 Giants 24. "Eagles
I hope." Myk
Steelers 23 Chargers 12.
"Chargers I
hope." Myk
Enjoy this weekend friends.

longest punt. Sav Rocca the former AFL Collingwood Magpie and North
Melbourne Kangaroo punted for the winning Philadelphia Eagles punting 4

Congratulation
to Chalkers finishing 1st in this great competition. He selected
the Titans as the team he thinks will win the
Super Bowl and thus he
hopes to then be the overall winner in Nate's unique
competition, the 2008
Trans-Canada Football Pool. Bryce came second and selected the Panthers.
I finished 3rd and went for the Colts. I believe if they defeat the
Chargers this
weekend in San Diego they could go all the way. I believe any team in the
playoffs except for the Cardinals could have a
chance at winning the Super Bowl in what has been a incredible
unpredictable NFL season.
Nathan's
Wildcard Weekend preview!
"Hey there my brothers and sisters of football,
the playoffs are upon us as we stand just
24 short hours away from kickoff in Arizona and I have to say I'm pretty
pumped. However, as I make the
case every season at this time, I have to argue that the BEST weekend of
football is, without a doubt, next weekend, the divisional playoffs.
You have the 8 best teams battling it out, spread over two days
and 14 hours of NFL football bliss. You're
usually looking at a minimum of one bad weather game, just to add to the
enjoyment. But hey, wildcard
weekend is no slouch either.
We always get one or two thrillers out of this weekend, and you
know that the Super Bowl Champ for 2 of the past 3 years has actually
been active on wildcard weekend. Who
will be this year's '05 Steelers or '07 Giants? Or will one of the bye teams take care of business?
Personally, I have to go with the Eagles as my long shot to go the
distance, but I wouldn't count out the Ravens either.
Of course you could also argue that the winner of that
Chargers-Colts contest could run the table, as the two clubs have
combined to win their last 13 games (Colts 9 straight, Chargers 4
straight). Any way you slice
it, this is gonna be fun, especially if you have your hopes and dreams
riding on one of the clubs in out playoff pool. Let's run down the brawls we'll be witnessing this weekend:
Saturday
Jan. 3 -- 4:30pm EST/2:30pm MST/1:30pm PST -- from Glendale, Arizona --
gameday weather... 61 degrees farenheit, sunny.
(9) GRAHAM BRAND (Atlanta Falcons) @ (12)
JOHN P. SCHICK (Arizona Cardinals)
Saturday Jan. 3 -- 8:00pm EST/6:00pm MST/5:00pm PST -- from San Diego,
California -- gameday weather... 56 degrees farenheit, partly cloudy.
(3) MYK AUSSIE (Indianapolis Colts) @ (8)
JARRY LAKE (San Diego Chargers)
Sunday
Jan. 4 -- 1:00pm EST/11:00am MST/10:00am PST -- from Miami, Florida --
gameday weather... 78 degrees farenheit, mostly sunny.
(7) SUPREME TEAM (Baltimore Ravens) @ (10)
WADE "DUMPY" CONNORS (Miami Dolphins)
Sunday
Jan. 4 -- 4:30pm EST/2:30pm MST/1:30pm PST -- from Minneapolis, Minnesota

Natan's
Week 16 picks and report!
Wow, that really
was one heck of a game last night, wasn't it? Had a real playoff atmosphere to it, and at least one team that
seemed to really want the win. That
fake FG by the Ravens was so sweet. Imagine
yourself, that 148 lb punter for Baltimore, and your coach says, "Ok
Koch, you're gonna take the snap and run for 7 yards through a line of
men that are an average of 6' 5", 340 lbs. You up for it?" And he
was. He even put in a little deek
at the end to gain a couple extra yards. To me, that may have been the play of the game because the Ravens
were constantly settling for field goals and it looked like they were
going to have to do the same this time, but that fake enabled them to
gain a 9 point edge instead of just 5 points, and it was that 2 score
lead that allowed them to dictate play for the rest of the game. Sweet. Especially
cause I picked the Ravens. Here's
the rest of em:
NE
16 (in the snow this should be a lock)
, TB 15 (scares me a
little but Tampa is 6-0 at home and needs it bad)
, Den 14 (Bronco
games never feel comfortable)
, NYG 13 (Jacobs'
return will spark a bruising victory)
, Ind 12 (money...
barely)
, Chi 11 (nervous
because it's divisional, but the Bears must have it)
, Hou 10 (Texans
have something to prove to everyone)
, NYJ 9 (might of
picked the Hawks but Favre thrives in the snow)
, Phi 8 (Skins have
sucked mightily of late)
, SF 7 (Singletary
ain't losin to the Rams)
, Pit 6 (no
Haynesworth or Vandenbosch, plus Fisher doesn't give a shit if he's #1 or
#2 seed)
, Mia 5 (watch out
for the Chiefs here, temps are chilly in KC)
, Atl 4 (toss up,
but basically I like Matt Ryan over Tavaris Jackson)
, Cin 3 (who the
hell knows here)
, Bal 2 (money)
, Det 1 (that's
right, I've bashed em all year, I've picked them a perfect 14-0, and now
I've got the sense they are ready to break the streak)
. I need a good
week. Enjoy some of the great
games this week.

Nathan's Week 15
recap!
So who would you
rather have at the helm... Dan Orlovsky or J.P. Losman?
How about Ken Dorsey or J.P Loserman?
Maybe
Vinny Testaverde (in his present state) or Losman?
I honestly can't think of a living QB that I wouldn't chose to
pilot my
ball club over J.P. "I love to lose" Loserman.
Can you even believe what happened in that Jets-Bills contest on
Sunday? For
those who don't know, the Bills had played hard all game, Marshawn Lynch
was running like a maniac and maybe got tackled a total of like 6 times
all game... he was always either pushed out of bounds or stood up until
the refs blew their whistles.
Buffalo had all of the momentum from the 2nd quarter on as well as a 3
point lead with 2 minutes to go and 2nd and 6 in their own territory.
Despite their success on the ground all day, the Bills coaching
staff thought it would be clever for J.P. to
roll out for a pass. Apparently
they haven't watched him play football before.
Fine, not what I would have called, but give it a shot. Losman, who has absolutely no sense of where he, or any defenders,
are on the field at any time, rolls out to pass,
waits, waits, waits, and decides to wait a little longer instead of
throwing it away. It was at
this point that a Jet defender sacked and fumblized this pathetic excuse
for a QB. The ball was then picked
up and run in to the end zone by New York for the game winning score. Losman, in addition to his game-losing fumble, also managed to
throw 3 INTs. I think he'd be a
good fit for the Lions. Don't get
me wrong, I was pumped up about it, after all I had 15 points on the
Jets, but man Losman was just born without the ability to feel any kind
of pressure.
So who's going to win the AFC East? I
vote for New England. I know one
man who's picking the Tuna Fish.
Also
have to throw out much respect to the Steelers for a really solid win. I could certainly entertain an argument that says the Steelers are
the best team in football. Of
course, the Giants did beat them in Pittsburgh.
If I had to do power rankings today, I think the Giants (with a
healthy Brandon Jacobs) would be my number 1, followed by the Steelers.
Hard to figure the Titans because although this loss to Houston
seems awful, the Texans have been playing much better lately and
Tennessee was on the road. I
expect an awesome game next week when the Steelers come to Nashville."
